They love fish maybe sardines ? Probably better for him than cat or dog food. But like they say he'll eat anytjing
Madmonk · M
I once had a pet raccoon. They eat anything. And I mean anything. It was almost impossible to keep my pet raccoon, her name was cricket, out of the sugar bowl.
4meAndyou · F
"Raccoons are opportunistic feeders and have a varied diet that includes both plant and animal matter. Their omnivorous nature allows them to adapt to various habitats and food sources, making them very versatile creatures. In the wild, raccoons have been known to devour anything from fruits and nuts to insects, small mammals, and even bird eggs.

One of the defining characteristics of raccoons is their “washing” behavior, where they dip their food in water before eating it. This behavior is thought to soften their food and improve its taste, especially in the case of hard-shelled prey such as crustaceans.

Although raccoons have a reputation for being scavengers, they are not strictly carnivorous. In fact, plant matter makes up a significant portion of their diet in the wild. This includes fruits, vegetables, and nuts, as well as grains and seeds."

@4meAndyou Thank you!! He's soooo cute!!!
i forgot i had this pic from my old place...these guys scared the 💩 out of me when i threw the trash on them. i didn't know they were there. i didn't know animals could "scream" like that
Tumbleweed · F
@beermeplease I bet that gave you chills!!!
@Tumbleweed yeah...there was a family of 4 in there
They will eat anything, but Id advise against feeding them.
Tumbleweed · F
@FreeSpirit1 Yes, I've been warned! I'll just leave him alone. There's a man in the neighborhood who puts out food for the stray cats, right up from where the racoon was so I'm sure he'll make his way there.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
They aren’t real picky but they hate cayenne pepper. So no spicy foods.
Tumbleweed · F
@cherokeepatti Oh wow!! I didn't know that!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Tumbleweed It’s healthy for chickens and other birds to eat hot peppers (dried crumbled put in their food etc) because it will get rid of intestinal parasites. It will help humans too.
Tumbleweed · F
@cherokeepatti Very cool!! I never knew that! I mean, I know it's like that for humans but not animals so thank you!
Stephie · 22-25, F

You don't want to feed them. They'll harass you forever. That being said, apparently they don't like hotdogs.

@carpediem Honestly I'm a little concerned since he was out during the day. I haven't seen him today though.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Tumbleweed He might be sick. I know they're "cute", but you really don't want to feed them. It's just not a good idea.
Tumbleweed · F
