I don't mind them. The cat thinks they're interesting too.

I always name them, helps me bond with the little friends. E.g. jumping spider John II. Or crane fly Bob.

I used to get way overjoyed when lightning bugs would get in the house and fly around with their lil spotlights through the night. it'd make my dad overly angry and now I wouldn't want it because I'd feel bad for them not completing their buggy life. bust most other bugs I don't much care for.

I just saw a white praying mantis literally a few minutes ago - it wasn’t in my room or anything, but I thought it was worth a mention!

100% and finding out is it ok to tip them outside or do they need a cosy place where they won't be disturbed. (Except woodworm beetles, they go outside anyway no matter how tasty my furniture is).

When you have bugs, you have spiders that eat those bugs. Sometimes the bugs go into your bed sheets and bite you while you sleep. Spiders crawl on your face, mosquitoes suck blood from anything that is exposed and even through covers sometimes.
Having said all of that, I love bugs too. They can bite me, no big deal. I have pushed a few spiders off my face, or maybe I just dreamed I did.

Ladybugs and butteflies and the likes is "awww look at the magnificent beautiful cutie little thing"

Cockroaches, mosquitos, flies and centipedes = kill, crush, destroy.

The wife gets that excited when she sees a fly in the house, but not in the way you mean.
