How do i overcome tea/coffee addiction.

Some people recommended stopping cold turkey. It can be effective but should considered carefully. You can get withdrawal symptoms, like brain fog, anxiety, sleep pattern changes, other things. I would recommend reducing your caffeine intake little by little over time, and seing what you can handle.

@SinlessOnslaught cold turkey or reducing both didn't help, i tried them in past.

Distracting myself with other healthy or less unhealthy things which are kinda rewarding are helping me.... little. I think something wrong with my reward system in brain lol. Maybe due to depression i find life unrewarding so craving them.
@sahi81 There is nothing wrong with you. Don't try to put a label on it. You just drink too much caffeine, and struggle to find a way to stop.

Distracting yourself is a good start.
Don't focus on never drinking it again, just focus on drinking a little less for now. If you find yourself craving it or about to drink more than you should, tell yourself to wait 5 minutes.

@SinlessOnslaught i think distracting myself helps when i get cravings. Eating food also helps to distract myself.
@sahi81 Distractions are good. I'm dealing with pain and discomfort right now and video games really help.

Go cold turkey

Will take about 2 weeks or so
@mindless It can be effective to do that. Depends on the person and situation.

Stop drinking it

@sahi81 whenever u crave either, replace it with some other warm drinks, such as lavender
@Nanori You're a tough gal.

@Nanori i think doing things which are rewarding to distract myself when i get the craving is also helping a little. No herbal teas and fruit juices traumatize me lol and very unrewarding to drink... feels like a punishment which i want to avoid...i don't like their taste.

sahi81 · 22-25, F
@deadgerbil distractions help... a little
sahi81 · 22-25, F
@deadgerbil yea will power too....
You tell me ...but there are worse things to be addicted to
sahi81 · 22-25, F
@pripyatamusementpark doesn't mean it's not bad.... for my skin/hair.... I lost hunger due to drinking all that, don't want to look like granny soon due to lost of nutrients.
So in other words, caffeine addiction..cut down gradually is the best way and have your last at least 6 hours before bedtime.
