I Have Been Caned

@Rhodesianman I have heard that the ex-British colonies were particularly tough on the pupils. That's a bit extreme, in my opinion.

@jennyjugs I don't think the cane should be used on the hands it's to dangerous the bottom is far better padded, more so generally for females hehehe

@Rhodesianman Did you and your mates need to get it that firmly? A week is a long time!

@chrisCA I know some did. It was obvious in schools where they only caned boys because they clearly had other, better methods of imposing discipline that they used with girls.

@Rebecca54 We had one Scottish teacher who used the belt. The first time she asked me 'hand or bottom' I chose the hand - and I could not use my left hand the rest of the day. Pure agony! The next time, the same question I said bottom and she replied 'all my girls say that the second time.' I got three - big red streaks across both cheeks. I still remember that belt curling around me.

@Sharon my mother was small but you did not want to cross her. I got a lot of hand spankings from teachers and one bare bottom. In the 60s and 70s they could do it but when i left school it was stopped

@nevergiveup She was still an adult though. Teachers pick on children, they're wary of adults who might fight back.

@Sharon In my days at school the parents did not mind there kids getting punished. If i had done what they said i would have got a much harder caning when i got home. It was the fact i told him i did not do it and he did not check 1st

@SW-User England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland banned it in different years but all around 2000. After the state school ban in 1986, private schools could only use it with privately funded students. Students whose fees were paid by the local authority were exempt.

@Sharon Well I never knew that! I counted as state funded in a private school. Didn't help though, they were still whacking away when I left.

Good at not getting caught, that's another thing that the cane teaches you, how to be cunning.

@JohnLGuise That's very true, The only thing any of us were ever punished for was getting caught.

@nevergiveup An interesting example of the now common trend of parents to lambast school heads for discipline. By contrast, the kind of parent who told the teen to bend over for another round on their tender rump (for "disgracing the family" etc) is now a rarity, even in the USA states that still give CP, I imagine.

@Disciplinarian i was caned for some thing i did not do. The head would not believe me.

Oh , then I understand any parent would go ballistic @nevergiveup
