I Have Been Caned

@SW-User I reckon it was about the same for me at school. I got it at home quite a few times too. Did you also get the slipper at school? It was very common at my school.

@Sharon Slipper was a daily routine with us. If you didn't hear it echoing along the corridors after break you'd think the teachers had gone on strike.

@Rosejilly Same here, there was almost always a slippering being administered somewhere in the school

@Rosejilly most slipperings in my school were given during the lessons masters didn't want to waste their break times on us!

@barney1 Same at my school. We were just called out to the front and told to bend over.

@Sharon Same at mine as well - out to the front, hands on knees, 3 quick whacks and back to your desk. Canings were always at the end of the school day in the head's office.

@Rebecca54 so when you got home parents knew what had happened. It was very hard to disguise pain!

@Rebecca54 ours wasn't that quick but similar in that we was told to drop your trousers and bend over the desk boy, then slippered hard with 2 to 6 whacks!

@Rebecca54 @Sharon And a much more sensible form of punishment than detentions, shouting or throwing blackboard dusters (if, of course, any form of punishment was necessary).

@Chroniclewriter I managed to keep the last one quiet as I felt really ashamed to be caned at 17

@MartinII Most girls chose the slipper instead of detention when given the choice.

@Rebecca54 at my school we wasn't given a choice the masters decided what you was going to get for you.

@barney1 Most of my teachers didn't bother with things like detention, it was the slipper every time. As we got older, especially 6th form, a few gave us the option of detention instead but I can't recall anyone opting for it.

Why would a master give a detention and waste his time,?
Slipper the boy then it's dealt with in a couple of minutes!!
Boy has a sore bottom,master then has his free time to himself

@Rebecca54 Very wise. We were never given a choice, but I’m pretty sure most of us would have chosen the slipper rather than detention. Any boy who preferred a detention would have been regarded as weak and wimpish - perhaps the same with girls?

@MartinII Yes - only a few mousy girls chose detention and they were teased a bit for being cowardly.

@Rebecca54 did they change thier minds next times because of the teasing or still take the detention again

@barney1 I can't really remember but I do know one quiet normally well behaved girl - who was a friend of mine - did get caned once.
