@Nimbus I was excited to get my first microwave oven. It was a little over a year after my baby was born and I had eaten enough cold food that it seemed like a miracle to be able to reheat it on my plate without messing up cooking pans or heating up the kitchen. Saved a lot of dishwashing too. And I got a washing machine before she was born, saved me from having to drive to town and use a public laundromat, not only inconvenient but I never knew if the water would be cold or too hot and same with the dryers that also could have a wad of chewing gum inside of them. I was excited for that washing machine and someone gave us a clothes dryer that just needed a new belt. And for the oven, the first time I had one with a glass window in the door where I could peak at the food that was baking to see if it was getting browned or bubbly, I’d sit on a little stool and watch it sometimes… people shouldn’t take these things for granted. I think about how my grandmothers raised a family and didn’t have them and how much time & physical energy it could have saved them.
