I am in some depression

Does anybody have any advice that can help or suggestions?
BlueVeins · 22-25
In my sight, it's all about self care. Focus on getting your sleep pattern in order no matter how hard it is. Buy a weighted blanket if you need to and drink some delicious red tea. ☕ Find some easy, healthy foods you can eat at home, but also give yourself frequent breaks to consume some comforting treats to boost your mood a little. Chocolate in particular helps dopamine levels.

Exercise if you can, preferably out in nature. Nature will help de-stress you. And while it's obviously to your own personal comfort, I think it helps a lot to have someone with whom you can give and recieve affection, especially if they're not really tangled up in the rest of your life. If nothing else, fawning over someone else can take your mind off of all the stress you're feeling.

Best of luck comrade, I know it sucks. I'm rooting for you.

@Friendship0nlyPlease sleep pattern is definitely crucial. Sometimes I make myself stay up just because it’s past three or four, so I’ll hopefully be able to get to sleep earlier the next day

@BlueVeins this is great advice!!

What I think helped me more than anything else was just to do repetitive things that I know I liked and would always like
For example I would put my favorite movie or album on loop or spend hours playing my favorite game
But it wasn’t about cheering yourself up, it’s about creating a familiar environment that you are comfortable in to allow the healing to take place
I hope that makes sense

Strenuous exercise. Especially cardio. It works great for me and will help you sleep better.

First try to understand the root cause - is it specific events or circumstances in your life that's, causing it and then if you can pinpoint the causes figure out what you can do to change these. Speak to professional, your doctor, counsellors etc. Often they can help you see things in a way you haven't or suggest ideas. Physical exercise certainly lifts mood too, hit the gym or go for a run, especially in green surroundings - countryside.
Depression is bloody awful, I hope you feel better soon.

@Friendship0nlyPlease no probs, been through it myself and it's a terrible experience. Remember you're not alone and there are loads of people out there who care and will help. Sometimes we need to reframe our lives and how we view oureselves, the world around us and how we interact with that world to get the best from it. Life often makes makes demands and expectations of us that are unreasonable yet we try to meet them and cripple ourselves in the process. It's an art of sussing out what's important to us.
As someone says above make sure to sleep enough and eat well too. Lack of sleep always exacerbates my dark moods.

Set a time to allow yourself the dark place. Literally set a timer to go off; whether it be an hour or a day. When it goes off, take a deep breath, get up, wash your face and brush your teeth, look at yourself in the mirror and smile at the love you gave yourself. Then, go get some light and tell yourself you’re allowed to be down but you will not be out.

Hugs to you mighty warrior.

I don't have the magic answer because I struggle myself many times. It's all too often easy to become cynical, and sometimes positivity seems like utter bs. One thing I have learned, is....[image deleted]

....and you're coming here for advice. That alone is depressing.
Friendship0nlyPlease · 31-35, F
@Freeranger I am receiving advice for depression. Unless you can offer some advice that is helpful please leave the feed
Freeranger · M
@Friendship0nlyPlease That was my advice to you unless you weren't intuitive enough to pick up on it. Leave this website and seek a professional with better answers and more positive results.
This is NOT the place to take your ills, and it's been said by any number of us here, who reply to this same redundant question over and over.
Better to be up front and tell you what you need to hear, but that said, those of us who interdict always come away shaking our heads because in telling you what we do, the result is the same---the stray dog, ends up biting the hand that gives it something to chew on.
Good luck 🙄
