Can’t stand gypsies

I work in retail in the meat department and the Gypsy customers that come in the store are an absolute nightmare for me. They always want a special cut of meat usually expensive and later it is found in the damn cereal isle! Just wasteful. They always steal and extremely rude. When you go into a restaurant and there is a Gypsy family there their kids are misbehaved and throw shit on the floor. I am not a racist but damn I would love to have a meeting with one of them and ask why.

* UPDATE* I am not a racist. The group of Gypsies that live where I am from are extremely rude people. That is not speaking for all of them!
It is their culture. Stealing is part of it. Also the women are forced into marriages and motherhood from an early age and then they are also left to raise those kids while kids themselves married to other children . It is a mess. Not to say everyone converts into that lifestyle but it is mostly common to do so orelse you will be shamed by the community. And it is not racist. They need help. These girls ,and boys, need to be put into education and stay there. To be given more opportunities. It is sad really

@PepsiColaP I travel often, yeah. I'm very far from rich though. My family is not wealthy. You're mistaken if you think I have a lot of money. I'm not impoverished, but I'm not even bougie. Years ago I was very poor. It was only through the charity of others, and the extremely dedicated hard work of my father, that I was able to make enough money to live like a normal person.

I used to steal from people because it was all I could do. I wasn't allowed to go to school, I wasn't able to get a good job cos I had no educated, and I wasn't able to get a crappy job because employers told me to take a hike. So I started stealing, or at least conning. I used to scam people with stuff like three card Monte and whatnot.

These days, I don't really have a reason to steal, but I do it still when others accuse me of thievery. Which happens more often than you might think. It makes me so fucking angry when someone tells me that they think I'm a thief even though I no longer am. I think that, if they're going to call me a thief when I'm not, I should give them what they want. It's obviously what they made their mind up to be. So I let them have what they want to be true.
@BlueMetalChick huh. so if what you say is indeed true, then maybe you should seek psychological help. I mean if someone calls you a murderer will you go murder someone? Kind of toxic to blame all your unhealthy impulses on others.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@PepsiColaP My desire to stay out of prison would probably prevent me from actually committing a murder but I can certainly say I would entertain the fantasy. If someone told me over and over that I was born as a killer and that my actions in life couldn't change that, I undoubtedly would feel a desire to prove them right. Again, I wouldn't actually do it because it would mean I'd spend many years in jail, and I guess also I'd have to consider the fact that to kill another is exponentially more egregious of a moral failing than stealing from them.

Just some advice, pretty much anytime you include this in your thought process
I am not a racist but (...)
It should be a major red flag to whatever you're saying
vorian · 51-55, M
@EuphoricTurtle snap....see my comment.
vorian · 51-55, M
"I'm not a racist but..."
A cast iron guarantee that you're about to say something racist. And look...there you did.
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
@vorian It's pretty insane to say such a thing when the title itself is Can't stand gypsies

"I'm not racist but...I can't stand gypsies" 🙄
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
I think I know what you mean. In the UK there are certain communities that actively cause trouble, intimidate, scam and rob people and are well known for it. Actively trash places they go to and have a terrible reputation, I used to live by a lot of them and know people who knew some of em. One of em tried to intimidate my mother and kept harrassing her at her house.

I'm not a fan of that because It's honestly just a shitty thing to do. It's not all of them though (Romani gypsy?) there's more than one community and they all operate differently, then obviously there's people who just have it in their blood who don't live like some of the groups in the UK do, I feel like they have their own specific culture here.
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@Ryannnnnn so annoying
JeanAnna · F
Bad upbringing....disgusting.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@JeanAnna Well, we're denied employment, legally not allowed to attend public schools, and we can't enter government buildings like post offices or libraries. We're also prohibited from public sector jobs. Basically, we're told to fuck off and die. So what exactly do you expect us to do?
JeanAnna · F
@BlueMetalChick I'll take your word for it, because I have never known gypsies or if they are treated any differently than the rest of us. But that aside, people should act with decency at all times, there's never any good reason for anyone to act like was mentioned in this post.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@JeanAnna I guess it's a matter of who is going to be the first to give the other a reason to believe that something different is possible.

The phrase "I am not a racist but...." is a dead giveaway. This entire post makes negative comments and assumptions based on race. Guess what that's called.
That's a gypsy lifestyle but it's not inherent behaviour in their blood...you disrespect the gypsy lifestyle is probably more accurate than you cant stand gypsies because yeah it does sound racist like you have a problem with their ethnicity but I'm pretty sure that's not what you mean
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@PepsiColaP Yes, now later in life. I'm referring to before I left my homeland. NOW I have an education. NOW my life is a lot more stable. Again, I'm not wealthy or especially well off, but I live like a normal person. I own a house, I have a job, I'm still in grad school actually. This wasn't the case for a long time.
@BlueMetalChick I also have Romani gypsy blood...iam clearly not speaking of blood or ethnicity....um well done for having a job? I was on the defence of gypsies so I dont know what your appearing to be offended by
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MushroomFaerie I was saying that at the comment above yours.
OfflineFriend · 22-25
But Gypsies are clan people , like they care for each other and they are nice if you are nice
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
I am not a racist but damn I would love to have a meeting with one of them and ask why.
If you really mean that, send me a DM. Because I have a whole lot to say.
OfflineFriend · 22-25
@BlueMetalChick I was talking about your actual clan, can I join ?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@OfflineFriend OH 😂😂😂 I thought you meant a clan tag like in Xbox Live since we were making MLG jokes.
OfflineFriend · 22-25
@BlueMetalChick lol, that would be a good clan tough
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
that's why I'm glad I got out of Christmas tree farming; seasonal laborers (mexicans) are the same way. They'll steal anything that isn't bolted down, liter everywhere/never clean up after themselves, and when confronted about it, play dumb as if they didn't know any better 🙄
SkeetSkeet · 100+, F
@wildbill83 🤣😲
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I call them slummers to make it clear I don't refer to ethnicity but to the lifestyle they lead. Chances are that once they don't live in the slum they are more compatible with civilized world. It's pretty sad because children born in that community have little chance to get out even if they wanted to.
meJess · F
Because they can
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@meJess We don't actually want to. But what else is there to do when you're not allowed to attend public school, you can't pay for private school because you're too poor, and you can't escape poverty because nobody in the continent of Europe will hire you for a job? We're legally prohibited from being employed in public sector jobs in a number of European countries. In some nations we can't even enter government buildings by law. So, when you're told you can't get an education and can't get a job, you start stealing or ripping people off. Because what the fuck else are gonna do, just starve to death? Waste away in a street gutter?
Travelbug · 56-60, F
I work with a gypsy woman who would pinch the eye out of a needle. She told me when her mum lay dying in hospital she removed the metal food covering from her food and said "ere stick it in yer bag, it be worth sumtin". I went to the supermarket once to buy sandwiches and I only saw her pay cash (none of them will gave a debit card) for two bananas. When we got back to our desks she pulled out loads of things. I asked her if she stole it as she only paid for bananas and she roared laughing and said "you getter give em sumtin".

Never had a problem with them personally.
SkeetSkeet · 100+, F
They're a nice a bunch of people once you get to know them.
Sroonaka616 · 31-35, M
Can totally understand why you think that they are arseholes. Their culture just doesn't mix that well with civil society
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Sroonaka616 We might mix a little better if you didn't keep telling us how uncivilized we are, and also prohibiting us from attending public schools or holding jobs. What the hell do want us to do, just die off?
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Isn't that sort of something that goes both ways? From my understanding, a lot of places heavily discriminate against them up front. It's hard to do good when you are treated like you will do bad from the start.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@ViciDraco You are correct. We're not even allowed to attend public schools in a lot of countries.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick it's definitely not something that is an easy issue to resolve these days. We're looking at centuries of mistreatment and distrust. A few good gestures isn't going to be enough to win anyone over because it will be viewed as a trick at worst or temporary at best. There would be to be a long term trend of acceptance fostered.

And frankly, half the charges the OP leveled at them are also problems I see crop up in suburban whites in the US.
Wow tell us how you feel about blacks next 😳
JS1992 · 31-35, M
@Complexconfessions love them. They can use some help in their culture as well
@JS1992 omg...
what will they say about Jews?

Is it ok to beware with this stuff?
Reminds me of the slam book stuff (people calling out individual members to praise or blame) and the forced tolerance stuff..like putting up with the fetishes and similar idiocies in the service of good manners

Better manners is raise the level of conversation.

One thing I learned from sociology studies is that abused cultures barring strong mitigating factors...will act out stuff that's happened to them, individual families do that too...

Is stealing about taking back something? Ever wonder if these people ever maybe felt cheated too? Not excusing, and I won't tolerate any attacks 4 speaking out.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
You have gypsies in the States ?
CrustyDDingus · 36-40, M
@RodionRomanovitch yes, one of my friends is a gypsy in fact.
CrustyDDingus · 36-40, M
I dunno, I'm kinda fond of em 🌚
