Thunderyflame · 26-30, M
Thanks for your answers btw im a 26 yr old black guy and one of my coworkers has a habit of saying that and I thought it was offensive, but wanted you alls opinion
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Everyone should be like me, I don't like anyone just tolerate a few people
SW-User
I think so yes. Why label anyone anything? I like people. Period.
BlueVeins · 22-25
Technically no, but tonally yes. Ignorance isn't a racial thing.
Thunderyflame · 26-30, M
@BlueVeins i like the tonally part
SW-User
I wonder what comments lead to that remark, because if he wasn't a racist and was accused of being one just for not liking bad behavior exhibited by some blacks- then it would be an entirely appropriate thing for him to say in his defense.

@Thunderyflame I like some rap, (mostly old school). But I’m also a classical pianist. And what complicates things is when other black people want to make us a monolith in terms of what our skills and interests can be, lest we be judged “not black enough”. A black kid actually told my youngest sister, “Black folks don’t swim.”
My sister, whose first job was as a lifeguard, was embarrassed to have to tell him otherwise. 🤦🏽‍♀️
Thunderyflame · 26-30, M
@bijouxbroussard yea thats a good point that black people actually put us in a box when it comes to what we do

This whole obsession with skin color is racist, TBH.

Well, it does beg the question whether or not you’re okay with ignorant people of other races.
Personally, ignorant people of any color bother me.
Get it ? 😳
Thunderyflame · 26-30, M
@bijouxbroussard yea i get it the correct way to say it would of been i like people just not ignorant ones
Butterflykisses24 · 51-55, F
It is racist.
MistahJ · 31-35, M
Not a “somewhat” racist thing to say. It is flat out racist. A person skin color doesn’t matter when it comes to being a shit human being. Do you happen to like “ignorant” Caucasian people? Hispanic? Asian? Everyone has the ability to become one. Regardless of race.

To be quite honest, I’m so very sick of this “us vs them” mentality that’s been going on throughout the world. When we’re all long dead and gone, hopefully the ones who come after us do a better job and laugh at how simple we are for fighting amongst one another for so long instead of focusing on the bigger picture.
Thunderyflame · 26-30, M
@MistahJ yeaaa i agree honestly with the only thing that stopped some other country from inavding and taking us over during the summer was covid
SW-User
Funny because that's quite an ignorant thing to say.😂
Thunderyflame · 26-30, M
@SW-User thats what thought lol
I don't like it!
Not liking ignorance is perfectly okay. Specifically tying it to race though. That is underhanded racism because race has nothing to do with ignorance.
Thunderyflame · 26-30, M
@canusernamebemyusername yea i thought it was a real dumb thing to say but i just wanted everyone to else's opinion

Lol. Yes. Your still portraying a person with a different skin color as different than yourself.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
If being PC is the goal here; Do you need to mention the colour of their skin?
JoePourMan · 61-69, M
Yes, simply by the fact you have limited the comment to a race
Thunderyflame · 26-30, M
@SW-User right because he could just say well i dnt like ignorant white people either but in this situation this guy knows a handfull of black people maybe 5 personally and with that being the case im just wondeing what would make him word it that way if he barley knows any black people
SW-User
Yes.

End of story.
RebeccaG · 46-50, F
Agreed! If we want true equality then everyone is equal, sex, religion, race, orientation. The best person / candidate should get the job for example.
@RebeccaG And a non-biased definition of “best” ? 🤔
Pretzel · 61-69, M
no not "somewhat" at all

thoroughly and completely - absolutely
Thunderyflame · 26-30, M
@Pretzel Thanks man
Pretzel · 61-69, M
@Thunderyflame honest question deserves a honest answer

anytime my fellow SWer
