I wonder what comments lead to that remark, because if he wasn't a racist and was accused of being one just for not liking bad behavior exhibited by some blacks- then it would be an entirely appropriate thing for him to say in his defense.
@SW-User The fact that he singled out the behavior as specifically by blacks would be questionable.

@SW-User well we were talkin about racism im general and he said well im not a racist i dnt have a problem with black people i just dnt like the ignorant ones, and imean i dnt think hes a all out racist but he def has traits of racism, so as far as it being an appropriate thing to say idnt no, i guess it depends on what his definition of ignorance is because me and other blacks i know tend to do stupid ignorant things from time to time but its not our character all the time

@SW-User Which race(s) do not have examples of ignorant individuals within? Is ignorance exhibited by some races more tolerable than ignorance shown by others?

@Thunderyflame There are certainly racist white people. There are also blacks that false accuse white people of racism, and this is another maddening racist thing to do.

@SW-User There's nothing wrong in my comment. It explores a possible explanation for his remark.

@bijouxbroussard It depends on context. It's possible he was defending himself in an unpleasant conversation. I don't like to jump to hateful conclusions.
@Thunderyflame Everyone makes mistakes from time to time. It’s when someone ascribes a particular kind of ignorance to a person because of their race, or expects to see it*, that it looks like racism.
*As a young woman, I had an employer say to me, “you’re such a good worker, which frankly, is surprising. Most black people are kind of lazy. No offense.” Shocked but not trusting myself to remain polite, I excused myself and went back to work. This woman would never have believed it if she’d been called a racist. She actually thought she was paying me a compliment. 🙄

@SW-User I'm not attacking you nor your comment, I'm just trying to understand why one would need to say they like this group of people but not those that exhibit this specific trait, as though that trait were inherent to that particular group of people.

@SW-User right me either im very careful about making statements about people especially about racism but alota of people of all races can have traits of racism or discrimination iv have to tell black people to stop referring to white people as white when they do something you dnt like because that label (white) makes it seem like the color of his skin has something to do with why the persons the way they are

@bijouxbroussard yea i get that to from some white people that they never met a black person who listens to metal or plays certain video games, and my biggest thing is that makes it seem like its an exclusively white thing to listen to metal or play certain video games, and it comes off as racist but thats just a big stereotype alot of people not just white buy into
@Thunderyflame True. And just because they’ve never met such people doesn’t mean they don’t exist. My niece is both a gamer and plays bass with a local metal band. People are surprised to see her, but admit she’s good.

@Thunderyflame I like some rap, (mostly old school). But I’m also a classical pianist. And what complicates things is when other black people want to make us a monolith in terms of what our skills and interests can be, lest we be judged “not black enough”. A black kid actually told my youngest sister, “Black folks don’t swim.”
My sister, whose first job was as a lifeguard, was embarrassed to have to tell him otherwise. 🤦🏽‍♀️

@bijouxbroussard yea thats a good point that black people actually put us in a box when it comes to what we do
