I just learned something truly strange about my mother.

She can't wear wrist watches: they always stop. Stop ticking, that is.
She's tried so many watches but they all simply stop working. Anyone else have or hear of this??

Yes I had a sister-in-law that happened to. She'd get a watch and it would stop working the fiwst day she wore it, lay them down on the table or dresser and it'd start working again...tried several kinds of watches and every one did it.

@cherokeepatti My ma is chronically irritated by this.

I think my sister-in-law would get a watch and lay it on her car dash or keep it in her purse and check when she needed to know the time.

I have a friend who works as a lineman for an electricity provider and watches do the same thing when he wears them. It has to do with exposure to all that high voltage power.
purplepen · 51-55, F
@Makinmd That makes sense.
@Makinmd Yea, maybe she needs to move to a house a little further from the power lines.
I’ve heard of that but never encountered anyone that had that.

Any watches my mother wears always end up 10 - 15 minutes ahead.
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@Allelse Weird!
UnderTheBridge · 46-50, M
This is interesting. How about digital watches?
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@UnderTheBridge Yep. ALL watches.
That is because the watches she likes have been sitting on the shelf for years. Try changing the battery before you delve too deeply into witchcraft or voodoo or anything. :)
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@UreBesFrend I said nothing of witchcraft nor voodoo. Believe me, she's tried replacing batteries etc: watches just up and die.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@UreBesFrend No. That is not the case at least for me. I can put a brand new battery in and it will stop. It has happened for years with different watches. I no longer wear a watch. It is useless the minute I put it on. I dont know why.
Haha, ok, maybe try a smart watch, perhaps it can tell you why. ;)
purplepen · 51-55, F
I haven't heard of that, but watches have always been uncomfortable for me to wear, and they did tend to get ahead of time. IDK why.
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@purplepen I'd go spare without my trusty Swiss Army watch. One of those nurse type of watches wouldn't suit me, you know the ones that hang from the breast pocket?
purplepen · 51-55, F
@Cavedweller perhaps the Swiss watches don't lose time as easily as the cheap ones do.
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
most who talked like that was during the kinetic watch days.

otherwise it's bullshit.
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@sighmeupforthat Bullshit? Thankyou come again.
Rokasu · 36-40, M
That is the coolest shit ever.
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@Rokasu 😀
I have heard of that
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@Mondayschild It's queer.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
Yes. Me. I don't wear a watch. I kill them.
