That is because the watches she likes have been sitting on the shelf for years. Try changing the battery before you delve too deeply into witchcraft or voodoo or anything. :)

@UreBesFrend I said nothing of witchcraft nor voodoo. Believe me, she's tried replacing batteries etc: watches just up and die.

@UreBesFrend No. That is not the case at least for me. I can put a brand new battery in and it will stop. It has happened for years with different watches. I no longer wear a watch. It is useless the minute I put it on. I dont know why.
