Who is more likely to go to hell? [Spirituality & Religion]

- a serial killer who has always believed in God and worshipped him

or

- an anti-religious atheist who has never done any harm to anyone and always helped people in need
MrSmooTh · 31-35, M
I am a Christian. I am also against organized religion. I think it has been used for so much bad over the course of history. I believe that Jesus Christ is God in human form and was crucified and resurrected to defeat death and absolve the sins of mankind. Thats it period. I do not believe that God sends people to hell anymore, but that people choose hell. I believe that when a person dies they are going to come face to face with God and they can either live iin heaven forever or go elsewhere. Its up to the person. We have freewill. But as a Christian I feel that life is so much easier to cope with knowing that this isnt all I can hope for. And I feel like its my responsibility to tell people who are wondering that Jesus Christ paid for their sins and now their soul can live forever. Thats what I know as "Truth".

atheists don't believe in hell, they believe in big bang etc so.. they will go to a gangbang

A common theme I see with God is that we have a choice to follow him or not. Why we have the stipulation of faith in order to do so is something I'm not clear on, but that's the assertion, being able to choose. Full disclaimer, I have a very cursory knowledge of religion so I'm ignorant on most of it. Take what you will from what I say. Satan is an angel who fell from heaven. Regardless of why, one would assume he made the choice to become evil afterwards. So it makes sense that if people made the choice to disown God like he did, they would find damnation with Satan. Right? So! That explains why atheists no matter their lifestyle would be sent to hell. They still refused God. Now, even if one claims to follow and worship god, if they are doing so while sinning all the while, I would imagine God wouldn't be too happy with that. We are allowed to make mistakes, I'm sure if anyone knows how flawed we are, it's God, but you cannot actively do things to oppose him and then act like his follower. Part of accepting God means following his rules. At least if this will make any sense, that's the case. So that serial killer is also going to hell to see Satan another being who made the same choice to actively oppose God. That's what I would guess from what I know. Both are going to hell.

@Reject because it sounds like your referencing his books. I think its absolute garbage, but I bet you'd like him.
Reject · 26-30, M
@Dolimyte I see. Yeah, I don't read a lot of books. I wish I read more. Maybe I would like him! :) Thanks for telling me about his work.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@Reject no problem. Thank you for taking the time to explain your point of view to me
Mrjingleswilly · 51-55, M
According to Christian dogma, they’re both going. But, if you absolutely don’t believe in Christianity, you can’t go to hell, because by definition and by the nature of belief you can’t go somewhere you don’t believe in.

The serial killer’s going because they believe in Christ and haven’t obeyed the Ten Commandments.

Telling an atheist they’re going to hell is an empty threat.

I take it you don't know then? It figures.

@Emosaur
And again, it's really unfair of him not to leave any obvious proofs for his existence or not to simply say "Hi" for once, but still expecting everyone to believe in him.
Really? Have you ever seen the cabin that Daniel Boone built? If you have, how do you know it was him that built it? Did you actually see him built it?

It's the same with God, Jehovah. We don't see God but we see the works that He did.
Who tf are you to tell me how good my hearing is? Lol.
One who's been there and still there at times.
Well, then I guess I haven't seen that "life preserver" yet.
I hope you see it soon before you drown. I'd love to meet you in heaven.
Why I should believe some random guy on the internet who is unable to provide any clear evidence for some invisible sky fairy to exist.
Why should I believe some random guy who keeps claiming there is no God and fails to produce any evidence that what he says is actual true?

The killer, in my opinion because he as a true follower of God would have repented.

Having said that, both would go to Heaven and have the opportunity to learn more and more.
th3r0n · 41-45, M
@SimplyTracie there is a long list of those who will not see the kingdom of God, but it also says that some of the ones who belong to God were that way but were washed. This agrees with the first part of your statement but not the second
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@th3r0n Many people have not yet heard the Word. Still more haven’t had the opportunity.
But all will have the opportunity to come to Him, even after death. That is my belief.
th3r0n · 41-45, M
@SimplyTracie “it is appointed for man to die once and then judgement”
AnonymousJSS · 22-25, F
In a world where all this could be true the second one would go to hell, sadly.
Since the stupid bible says you have to believe in God to go to heaven; the ten commandments say you should always worship god and no "other" god.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Since ALL holy books are written by MAN (even though they ALL claim to be the word of God !) it's in those writers interest that NEITHER gets to Heaven isn't it ?

What of those who have killed in the name of their God ?
Plenty of those throughout human history.

Man is a flawed creature.
If there were a God, you'd think there would have been a clarification of all those cryptically written bits to ensure man knew for certain what to do wouldn't you ?

A serial killer would wind up in hell if he hasn't repented of sins. If he has repented for he did and became saved, the he wouldn't be a serial killer anymore would he? A skeptic who doesn't believe in God or Jesus would go to hell by choice and not by force from God. It's not by works that we enter heaven but by grace when we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior.

@Emosaur
Uh yes, he would. You can't just make things that happened undone. I can't believe I have to explain this to an adult...
I can't believe that I'd have to explain this to an adult. By this world's standards, he'll always be a serial killer. By God's standards, when he receives Christ as Lord and Savior, he becomes a new creation and is no longer under the law of sin and death. It doesn't make him prefect but he'll no longer be a killer.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
Neither, it doesn't exist.
th3r0n · 41-45, M
Flawed question, there is none that does good, no not one.
th3r0n · 41-45, M
@SimplyTracie the second person in his example never harmed anyone and always helped. There is no such person.

I have been too tired or too busy and missed helping people I could have sometimes, and even I have beaten up some people that attacked me or loved ones. None has done no harm and none has failed to help.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@th3r0n I don’t think the OP was intending to imply that anyone is perfect but simply trying to get ones opinion.
VSonMe · 56-60, M
@th3r0n yeah God's really great. If you don't believe in Him, he has a fucking hissy fit like a spoilt teenager and takes it out on you for all eternity. What a vindictive asshole. Fortunately, such a horrible deity doesn't exist.

@Emosaur For me,yes, but naturally I respect others' beliefs.
wakanda4eva · 26-30, F
I feel like this is a loaded question, nevertheless no religion that encourages killing should go to heaven
walabby · 61-69, M
Does hell even exist, or is just scare propaganda put out by the religious?

From my understanding both will. It says it a few spots I’ve read ( have nott finished it yet) that basically we’re no good beings but boy we sure are lucky God decided to love us because of Jesus sacrifice or we’d be damned too. It reminds me of an abusive relationship, “ I love you so much but if you don’t give me attention I’ll hurt you” I’ve been struggling quite a bit to grasp the reading as I’ve also been told by others to think of God as a father. But no sane parent punishes their children forever as it seems this particular Father will if you don’t do as he says. I can’t be certain what I think is the most realistic outcome in terms of what comes after we perish. But I do think if there is God, Jesus, the afterworld etc then it’s highly plausible that corrupt men reaches the book with their own words sometimes of hate, separation etc which would soothe my soul to believe that the creator didn’t think & treat beings as he supposedly has/ does
