I think it’s hilarious that conservatives think billionaires are left wing

Do they know what left wing is? Because it feels like they think communism is when the HR department let’s you go for saying a racial slur to your coworkers lmao.

TV and talk radio is a hell of a drug
liberals are basically left wing capitalists.. which still makes them right wing compared to true socialists

@Strawberrry conservatives don’t know how good they have it with democrats as the “resistance” party
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
Conservatives lie a lot.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@Stopmakingsense well they gotta I reckon. They haven’t won a popular vote in ages

Or they think "capitalism is dead" because a tech CEO supports pride or something. These billionaires and capitalists may support socially liberal causes, that is far from making them left-wing radicals or communists.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@SW-User *see a multi billion dollar corporation make their logo rainbow colored in a disingenuous attempt to increase market appeal* “THATS A COMMUNISM!!”
@SW-User Most support such causes because the optics of it are good for business.
Conservatives know very little about much of anything. They do believe hate speech and lies though.
@graphite Say whatever you want, it isn't against the law to be a racist, after all, it's the conservative way.
graphite · 61-69, M
@independentone Democrats, who insist people of color can't figure out the Internet and can't figure out how to get proper ID, call Republicans "racist." 🤣 You can't make this stuff up.

Democrats also being racist doesn’t disprove republicans being racist.@graphite

We can laugh but it it kind of is a final victory for capitalism and for the right wing.

The understanding of politics that this comes from (the frame) is about the culture war and not economics or class power. It can only exist in a world where a capitalist world view is dominant, culturally and politically - to the point where its not even questioned. Liberal capitalism vrs Right wing capitalism. The values of the tech industry vrs the agenda of big oil. You can even see it from the donors to the two American parties.

Its seemingly ironic that the right conspiracy theorists use some language and analysis (unwittingly) taken from the radical left. 'The deep state,' 'globalism' etc. This is not good for the left though, it just shows that the populist resistance to neo liberalism has been colonised by a far right agenda.

So George Soros becomes the problem, not because he is a capitalist or because of a system producing economic inequality but because he is Jewish and has liberal politics.

It is kind funny that a lot of people think this way but it's also really bad.

It's safe to say that conservative groups/parties harbor some of the dumbest people
Northwest · M
Billionaires are not left wing by definition, but why can't some billionaires be left wing?

Progressive politics are not determined by income levels. If they are, then every conservative caricature would be true. There's probably no reason why we anyone should be a Billionaire, but our tax laws make it possible.

Some even argue that their foundations are a better hedge against Trump-like administrations or bad government policies.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow
Lol. All you have done is insult me and make juvenile, snide remarks. You have yet to make a serious statement about anything.
Again, I recommend a remedial reading class. Rebel Without a Clue.

My comment and my response to the OP are here for you to read, but you're simply regurgitating empty slogans.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@Northwest very unwise to depend on extravagantly wealthy people to provide any sort of social safety net. Even in the absence of one. Besides billionaires are the reason trump won in the first place. The guy himself is a billionaire. There may be some rich people that didn’t like trump for being crude but even ones like Bloomberg preferred him over someone like say bernie sanders.

They’re all in the club and they’ll never actually go against eachother

@NoahB
very unwise to depend on extravagantly wealthy people to provide any sort of social safety net.
Which is NOT what I said.
Besides billionaires are the reason trump won in the first place.
I am not sure how you arrived at this conclusion. He got help from a handful of Billionaires who support Israel, but the Evangelicals represent the single largest block that put Trump in the White House. A close second is racists.
The guy himself is a billionaire.
Even if he actually is, that's not even a factor.
There may be some rich people that didn’t like trump for being crude but even ones like Bloomberg preferred him over someone like say bernie sanders.
Bloomberg spent nearly $1.5B to defeat Trump.

Read above. One of the world's richest people is actively working on defeating efforts to abolish estate taxes.

There are capitalist billionaires on the left and right, I looked it up.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow so I'm wrong? there are no billionaires on the left? Ok.
@FreeSpirit1 Not in the traditional sense.
NoahB · 26-30, M
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
Conservatives almost never actually make sense.
They deflect arguments but never answer them.
A left wing billionaire is like a king who is anti monarchy. It doesn't really work.
graphite · 61-69, M
Mark Cuban, Jeff Bezos, Tom Steyer, Michael Bloomberg...the list is long. Democrats: The Party of the Mega-Rich. What did Biden do on Day 1? Destroy thousands of blue-collar union jobs.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@graphite i said ‘left wing’ not democrats lol
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Lot of conservatives are single issue voters, and a lot of those issues are social and not economic. Billionaires tend to be economically conservative, but many are socially liberal. So it's easy to point at a billionaire and scream "that guy supports abortion, what a leftist!" And a good lot of them will buy it.

On the same token, that's why we don't have a leftist party. The billionaires are all right wing economically so we wind up with a socially centrist to center left party and a socially right wing party. Economically we have a right wing party and a far right wing party.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@ViciDraco when you right your right
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
At best you get social democratic rich people, but that's not really leftism at all, that's center left at best and centrist in most contexts.
NoahB · 26-30, M
@basilfawlty89 few know this
It is both funny and sad.
