Ask Congress.
President Obama attempted to push the following gun control legislation:
1. Limit the size of gun magazines.
2. Expand background checks of gun owners
3. Ban gun sales to those on the terrorism watch list
All failed in Congress. Curiously enough, this is exactly what the current Administration wanted to propose, before the NRA met with Trump, and told him that he's going to be fired if he proceeds. Today, specifically, he's in Dallas cheering the NRA on.

The same reason he didn't get a final Supreme Court Justice appointment! Lots of things that he wanted to get through the legislature were blocked by the republicans, the original party of obstruction. Mitch McConnell announced after Obama won his second term, that it was his goal to prevent any of Obama-supported legislation to be passed by "his senate."

Because the Democrats controlled Congress the first two years of Obama's first term.
The consensus among Democrats was not to try to pass gun restriction legislation because they were afraid it would hurt them in the mid-terms when the party in power in the White House traditionally loses seats. (Of course, they lost control of Congress just the same)
Since 2010, the Republicans have controlled Congress, so not much of a chance happening.
If the Dems re-capture the House this year, it probably won't matter if the Reps still control the Senate.

@beckyromero @beckyromero when was the Last time you heard of any such event? Do you know that the statistics show that someone with a gun in their home is more likely to be killed than one without?
Hunters do not hunt with handguns orbautomatic weapons.

It's not about owning a gun but the right to own a gun. I personally do not have a gun. But it's the right to have that gun that has to be preserved.
Pre civil war, slaves were prohibited from having guns, but what's overlooked is that in many states FREE Blacks were also prohibited from owning guns.
Even after the civil war, Jim Crow laws included unequal laws that selectively gave non-blacks complete freedom to own firearms while making it difficult or impossible for blacks to acquire weapons.
This is why the KKK so easily and openly intimidated black people. Blacks were, by law, prohibited from protecting themselves.

Funny you should ask. Today actually.
Woman shoots intruder in her North Philadelphia home, police say
http://6abc.com/police-woman-shoots-intruder-in-north-philly-home/3432282/
"PHILADELPHIAA (WPVI) -- Police say a woman jumped into action when a suspect broke into her North Philadelphia home.
It happened on the 1300 block of Poplar Street around 4 a.m.
It was quite the morning for Maxine Thompson to say the very least.
Police say around 4 a.m. a suspect broke into her home on Poplar Street.
But little did the suspect know, Thompson, the mother of a Philadelphia police officer and grandmother was ready to defend herself."
Do you know that the statistics show that someone with a gun in their home is more likely to be killed than one without?
Did you also know that:
People who own cars are more likely to be killed in one than those who don't.
People who live in two-story homes are more likely to be injured falling down the steps than those who live in one-story homes.
Kids whose parents let them play football in high school are more likely to be injured than those who aren't allowed.
Wonder what the statistics would be if you filtered out suicide and homicides by the gun owner and focused on what is really the only two relevant factors (given that someone committed to suicide will find a way as well as a homicidal maniac): (1) criminal shoots resident were gun-owner resides, (2) gun-owner/resident shoots criminal. If a criminal breaks into your house, what do you want to be armed with? A gun or a cell phone?
Some other numbers:
Wiki:
in 2013:
11,208 homicides by firearms
...505 deaths due to accidental or negligent discharge of a firearm

Good question, he and the dumbos had complete control of the government for 2 years. They could have shoved so much more down our throats than obamycare.
yes he is ripping a new asshole to the snide deep state liberal swamp creatures, so sure.
lol THANK YOU .This is a beautiful example of the kind of absurd hypocritical double-think that trump supports must employ on a daily basis.
If it was obama then it's a despicable, probably criminal act.
If it was trump then it's a commendable pragmatic victory!

The president does not legislate or make law. Obama was President under Republican influence. These men very explicitly explains their top priority was obstructing him at every chance. Nothing gets done in a climate like that. Attempts to limit the size of gun magazines, expand background checks of gun buyers and ban gun sales to buyers on terrorism watch lists all failed to pass under Obama.
No gun legislation is being passed right now because nobody in government is listening to the majority of US citizens, who do want some kind of regulation. Sadly, we don't have as much money as the NRA.

Because a handful of Democrat members of the house and senate pretend to be blue-dogs. If they had followed Obama down that rat hole they all would be pitched out of office the very next cycle.
No doubt Obama, and the Democrat leadership pressed them and their response was:
"What? You think I'd be that Stupak?"

The NRA is more powerful than what politics can endure
katielass · F
@JarJarBoom For the same reason any other special interest group is involved in politics. They represent people, people who vote. Like I said, it's not deep.

@MasterLee Why do you say "liberals want to disarm America"?
If that were true, it would be so.
Not all "liberals" are anti-Second Amendment. Nor all Democrats. Not even all socialists (as Bernie Sanders can attest to), though the vast majority of socialists probably are.
Certainly most communists, Stalinists and radical leftists are.

Apart from anything else, because Presidents can’t pass legislation, only Congress can!

good question like katie said. how many school shootings took place on obama time

Each nation has it's cultural shortcomings and limitations that they are proud of. The Germans have their autobahn and car fetishism. They believe driving fast is a human right. Americans have their guns.

Because he wasn't different than Trump. People go crazy when you say they are actually being brainwashed but it's the truth.
