Why do gay couples get married and both call themselves the wife or husband?

@MysteriousRose Husband and wife are the two terms. People pick which one based on how they identify. It's not complicated.

@HootyTheNightOwl They pick and choose what they want and don't want is what I see. Like trying to have both genders but only claim to what they feel.

@MysteriousRose Lol, welcome to the world of marriage - it's just the same in a same sex marriage as a heterosexual marriage.

As far as genders go, there are more than the two genders that the vanilla world recognizes, though - so it's possible for one person to be happy with male pronouns and titles one day, but prefer female ones the next.

Equally, people with DID can be just the same... especially if they are switching so rapidly that they aren't sure if the front is male or female.

@Carla I like to ask questions and think about things that either I don't get or doesn't add up. I'm not the kind to just ignore what's going on around me.

Despite the appearance of gender, each human being is a mix of both masculine and feminine energies or attributes. And so it is the same of marriage between those of the same sex. One person gravitates or identifies with the masculine aspect and calls that self "husband." The other gravitates to the feminine and calls that self "wife."
