When you're job hunting, how much time do you spend job hunting ?

Thanks for your suggestions !

I’m one of those where the hunting becomes my temporary job. I devote hours to it, but don’t allow myself to get so wrapped up in the disappointment of it that it deflates my motivation in the process.

Depends on a couple things:

- if you're unemployed, job hunting is your new 8hr job.
- if you really want to change jobs, i would identify several places that you want as future employers (or maybe a good job site or two) and visit them a couple times each week.

Edit: i see this was an older post...any luck with the search?

@easterniowegin I got an interview but I believe I'm withdrawing the application cause the pay is really bad. I gotta switch jobs so I can start saving properly again. Still looking

A few minutes every day , like 15 min

i'd say dedicate a whole day or half a day to it, then next day you don't, then again! never 2 days in a row! give your brain time to calm down from job hunting!

@popmol that's good advice

Only once in my life did I NOT have a job when I went job hunting. That one time, a friend recommended me at her work, and the only time I spent was filling out that one application. The rest of the time, I put my resume online, or mailed it directly to HR, and once, I went to no less than three interviews. I was hired at all of them, and accepted all of them one after another. I went to one job, worked for two weeks, then got a better offer, and worked for three weeks, and then the best offer of all of them called me in for a day of testing and training, and I accepted that job.

At least half a day filling out online applications.

From personal experience i tend to specifically target particular jobs.

I'm not interested in the flannel that often accompanies their wildest dream candidate.
I'm looking at the job description.

To my mind it should have a clear definition of the duties and responsibilities associated.
And if i can hit 8/10 things they want that i know i can do I'll apply.

An hour or two a day

You should treat looking for work as a job. Spend a good part of each day looking for vacancies, applying on spec, maybe doing a course or doing voluntary work relevant to your chosen career ideas.
No clue. Some applications take forever. I think 2-3hrs a day is ok. But it depends if you're being intentional or desperate lol

10 hours a week
Back in the day jobs were so plentiful you could be unemployed in the morning, and re-employed by lunch.
