I think those dreams will fade after you've been there for a little while and you will be able to relax as you've always done. Hang in there! 🤗

Applepiedom · 56-60, M
Gotta leave work at work. Exercise, write down the things that area bothering you and put list away. It's to be worried about tomorrow when it's work time. Then you go exercise and live a off work life. If troubles are so bad they'll be fine till tomorrow
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Applepiedom I've also found that it takes self confidence to believe that whatever happens tomorrow , you'll have your own back. You'll be able to handle it and protect yourself.
Applepiedom · 56-60, M
@Queendragonfly it is a view point. Like in school, everyone says work hard to get good grades, you already have an A to start, all you have to do is maintain it
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Applepiedom I wouldn't say everyone starts with an A though so maybe not the best example but I understand what you mean.
I don't handle it well. It has it's ups and downs. I'm usually so drained from my work days that I just collapse on the bed when I get home 🤷‍♂️

Quite normal to feel like this in a new job.
Especially with all the added pressure of needing an income.
Especially at the moment.

It takes time to learn procedures and get into a flow.
Figuring out who's who and everybody else's expectations of you in your role.
And there's stress everywhere !

But that's not your fault. And they'll know that.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Picklebobble2 Agreed. You are going to be pre-occupied for a while until the job becomes more second nature. I would suggest the same as others; exercise if only walking, just getting away for a while until things settle down.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@JimboSaturn Control the things you have a handle on to give yourself the best chance of being at your best for the things you haven't

I try to have a life outside of work. Go for walks. Daydream. Window shopping. Trying new coffee houses. Being excited about the little things. Detaching my identity from the work that I do.
I think some new job stress is normal and the mind will needs its adjustment time. Perhaps until you're settled in the key is just doing your best to separate your mind from work once the day is over. A good routine at home that keeps you engaged that isn't too taxing. Maybe even some meditation 30 minutes or an hour before bed to try to relax your breathing and settle you down for the night. I've done some guided exercises I found on Youtube before and maybe they work, maybe they don't...if anything the calming time felt good. Hope things will calm down for you soon.

after you finish work, do something that you enjoy, talk to a friend, play a game on your phone, go for a walk, do some exercise,
I had this for like two years, but then I started working out straight after work and it helped so much, just got rid of that feeling of work and being in work and helped me relax after that - watch a movie, nice programme etc as well
you gotta do something to take your mind off it but be completely absorbed in the present

any new job is stressful at first. Give yourself time to adjust to it
I remind myself that it’s not my life; it’s just funding things I do or have. If I mess up or things are tense, that sucks but it’s not my life.
(Never had a job where people’s lives or wellbeing was my responsibility, because that’s a completely different story. I’d never get a job that had that kind of stress. Because what I said couldn’t apply in those fields)

Compartmentalize. Leave work there. Eff them!

This used to happen to me all the time in 2017. I hated it. I eventually quit the job it was too stressful driving me crazy. Was also collapsing on my bed as soon as I got home unable to get up to do anything else
JustEd · 41-45, M
Tough to balance when there’s that much stress with the job. But as you get more comfortable the balance should come. In the meantime you could try some breathing exercises, meditation.

Read a book, paint, play a game (if you’re into gaming), etc.

Don’t worry those dreams and thoughts will go away it’s more of finding a routine and rhythm for yourself trust me I go through it a lot I have dreams about work some are good some are not bad just really weird but they eventually go away at least for me
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
If you mean literally high volume as in noise, use earphones but instead of music out on something relaxing like whale sounds or rain
MissNoahLenFoxx · 31-35, F
@Queendragonfly thanks for the suggestion. I just mean the work load is alot and expected to be done quickly
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@MissNoahLenFoxx Ah I see. But can they fire you if you're not quick enough? Is that realistic?
