Coworkers was no filter

So of course everyone at work knows about my health issues and worries. Well I heard my very load coworker talking about me and my family. She said it was selfish of me to be with someone who already was a disabled child because if I died he'd be stuck having to raise 2 disabled kids and a child that should be on meds to calm him down. Everyone in the office could hear her. I stepped out and she went oh my gosh I said that to loud. I'm sorry. I simply said thanks for worrying about my family and went back into my office. She did get pulled into our boss's office.

People use others as a performance platform to give speeches on things they know nothing about. And they are loud intentionally as a further attention-grubbing aid.

Nothing that happens to her is your fault in any way. Don’t let her do that further injustice.

But, yes, no more confidences. A good measuring tool is, if someone tries to gossip with you about someone else, she/he will most definitely do the same to you.
@Cigarguy101 You’re a good guy.

@Mamapolo2016 thank you, I try my best
@Cigarguy101 It really does show!

Thank you for taking the high road, we need more people like you because I would have handled it differently. Just ignore her, you know what goes on in your household with your family it's none of this Karen's business.

@AngelUnforgiven oh wow thank you, not sure if that's true or not.

wow you have 2 disabled kids that sounds like a lot of work for you to take care of them. and you have your own health problems too, wow
Incredibly inappropriate and I hope the boss lets her know that in no uncertain terms.
@Cigarguy101 You have absolutely no reason to feel bad. At the very least, she owes you an apology. What she said was way out of line. And yes, I certainly wouldn’t be sharing anything personal with her anymore.

@OlderSometimesWiser Joe always tells me that I'm too nice he says that somebody would just smack me across the face then fall down I would probably help them up he's not wrong
@Cigarguy101 Sounds like despite this unfortunate situation there are valuable lessons to be learned, about others but more importantly about yourself. A person can be nice but at the same time know where and when to put boundaries in place. And enforce them whenever necessary.

FYI, a few of my outbursts during our meeting might have been exaggerated lol

@Cigarguy101 what a good role model you are for your disabled kids.
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@Summer2025 well first off my Children weren't there. And second I'm not sure if I said something to offend you on here but I'm not sure why you are saying these things on my comments. I see you're having a bad day, I'm sorry that you are. I hope tomorrow is better for you and maybe we'll get along better. But please stop referring to my child as disabled!

Maybe she will learn something from this experience!
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@Poppies she was pretty clueless and it's sad. She said she didn't understand was so rude about she said since she didn't say it to me.
Yikes, that is awkward.

@4meAndyou he was going to sepend her for a day and I told him that wasn't necessary, but I did ask for her to apologize to me in a meeting with him tomorrow. I don't do this often but I think my outbursts might be a little worse than normal during that meeting tomorrow. 😏

@Cigarguy101 She is definitely just like someone who kicks an innocent person when they were down. I hope you use at least ONE naughty word...🤣🤣🤣
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@4meAndyou I think it will happen lol
