Anybody here work from home?

What do you do for work?
How is it working from home?
Does management constantly monitor you?

I have the same problems on every single job.
I get anxiety to the point I hate waking up in the morning and going to work.
Gonna start looking at WFH jobs.

My goal is to be out of my current job before December

I work in project management and have worked from home for 2 years plus. I love not having to go into an office as with the programs available we have constant ability to contact colleagues as well participate in meetings.
I never worry about whether management is watching over my shoulder, the secret is having self control to start work on time, complete work in time and out in a full day.

I have worked at home for 9 yrs. Program Mgr for a large insurance company. They provide the laptop, docking station, two monitors, and secure vpn. I provide the desk and wifi.
Zero monitoring of work, but dialing in to calls is required. I choose my start time in the morning. Can take time to step away during the day, as necessary.
Salaried job, so I don't punch a clock. But get paid to do a job, regardless of how long it takes.
Must be self motivated and able to be productive w/o being monitored regularly.

I have been working without the benefit of a traditional office, for the past 20 years or so.

During the pandemic, it was strictly from home. Since, and before, it's from home, Starbucks, hotels, beach, planes, trains...

I don't really have management, but there are metrics that can be used to monitor remote work. There are plenty of work from home jobs, but more and more companies are trying to force people back to into the office.

@REMsleep needing a little more per hour. Thank you though

@rosyhills The recruiter job was 50 to 60K. That was one of the better ones but usually if you want to be paid well remotely it will either be contract only work or specialized in a particular field. My aunt is a lawyer for Wells Fargo and she mostly works from home but sadly they just made her move to South Carolina after 2 years here at home because they want her in the office 2 days per week. She said that so far half the employees don't even show for their required 2 days. So its like she moved for nothing.

@REMsleep That makes me feel like it's a scam. Usaully recruiters don't make that.
I'm sure some will get hired and make it worth her while

No but I’ll do about anything to work from home. I’d even sell makeup 💄
I'm a Contract Administrator, and I work from home 2 - 3 days a wek. I love it.

My boss checks on me regularly, but not in a micromanaging way. When I'm caught up on work I can do household chores, take a cat nap, shampoo my hair, etc.

I wish you success in your search.

I have an online job which I do part time helping blind people. I have a Face to Face video call with my manager once per month. Also all calls are recorded and randomly reviewed by management especially if the user flags it and gives it a bad rating.
Other than that nope not too much monitoring. There is always a shift leader online looking at how many calls I am taking and is there to respond to difficulties. But my job is best as a part time job because its not a W2 job ( contract work) but a number of people do it full time anyway because it is flexible and you can literally take off any time.

If you suffer from social anxiety I do recommend not retreating to your house. It can lead to greater isolation. If you work from home make sure to regularly get involved in something where you will have to interact with some people.

@REMsleep What does the job entail where you help blind people?

I would definently leave my house though after work is over. I have no interest in not seeing people all day. I just don't like 'forced' socialization, dealing with coworkers, seeing all the kiss-asses, just constantly being around people that I don't like and who don't like me is tiring and draining.

@rosyhills I assist the blind with visual information. Reading things, applying for jobs anything really.
Doesnt work in my career, but would love to change to be able to.
