I don't know about men in general but I would take it as a reminder to smile a little more. I have two reasons.
1. I find that taking people literally and assuming that they speak in good faith seems to cause less conflict.
2. I have noticed in a lot of the pictures that i take that my face looks rather serious and often a bit sad even when I know for sure that I was perfectly happy when the picture was taken.
However I do have sympathy with anyone who finds themselves on the receiving end of such a remark when it is a criticism.

@ninalanyon Totally agree.....In my pics I look like the most miserable and grumpy man in the world ...I am far from it...blessed in many ways ...and so happy to have met and know someone like Nina xx
