Have you ever been spellbound by the raw beauty of a stormy night?

Recently, we went through a week of relentless rain and storm-lashed winds. Each night, the sky turned pitch black, hidden behind thick rain clouds, torn open only by sudden flashes of lightning and thunder that shook the ground. Trees bent in quiet surrender. Power poles gave up. The electricity disappeared....and with it, modern life seemed to vanish. Backup lights flickered in tiny patches, but mostly, the world went dark.

Everything became still. No cars. No TVs. No voices. Just silence and shadows.

I stepped out onto my portico. The air was wild and alive. The wind howled, bringing sheets of rain in waves. Thunder boomed like ancient drums. Lightning lit up the sky in bursts of white fire. Trees cracked, leaves flew, and the scent of wet earth rose strong and rich. In that moment, with no noise, no screens, no distractions....I felt free.

It was just me and nature, raw and untamed. My senses came alive. For a moment, I felt something deep… ancient… peaceful. I wished it would stay longer.

But then the lights came back. Phones lit up. Life rushed in, fast and noisy again. And the storm’s wild symphony quietly faded into memory.

Not by a stormy night, but I did go to the boat landing with a friend, once, and we sat safely up on grounded rubber tires and watched a massive thunder and lightning storm come in over the harbor.

It was terrifying and dark and the waves rose and tossed!!! Lightning branched all over the sky in every quarter. Afterward, the sun tried to come out, and an enormous double rainbow spread over the harbor from Duxbury to far eastern Plymouth...and that was pure magic!
We finally got some rain yesterday. It stormed most of the day. There was peace with the thunder rolls and the lightning flashes.

There is nothing better then sitting under a patio with a fire watching a storm coming in.

@Jimbo7 Thank you. I appreciate it a lot.
I prefer the mundane. I have never seen the wind.
