I feel so blessed this morning I am praying for everyone else 🙏 the power is out but I don't even care!

We had 60mph winds overnight and I don't have any damage but my trashcan was up the street and one of my roses bloomed for the 1st time today I guess it must have loved the rain. I put a yellow solar light bulb on the yellow rose, a red one one on the red roses and a pink one on the pink roses and the bulbs didn't even break I just knew that I would lose some plants at least. My swing overturned but wasn't damaged and it's tied down.

Yesterday I had some overturned plants I went out there and picked them up and this morning had to do it all over again . But none of them were damaged.

This was yesterday

This is this morning

Where are you Angel - its windy here in Swindon but nothing like that bad. My garden still stands - but I dont use pots. My mighty trees and fearless alpines will see this through. Im remebering the good times ealier this year.. They will return

@Captain Texas, I didn't plant them because I was supposed to be moving this month but at the last moment I decided to stay. And they are going with me when I go. I didn't want to go through digging them up

@AngelUnforgiven SO have you got a tornado warning or is this just a wild storm ?
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@Captain Beautiful
Captain · 61-69, M
@WillaKissing Yep and it just changes through the months, Im using SW to compile a set of through the months images so I can see how things change myself but obviously I need to wait for a better day to take the next set. The philadelphus is about half out now (and I switched a few plants around not realising I'd timed it perfectly for the rain) - infact the main flower colour in the garden is now white with blues and mauves. I'm truly pleased. My advice to any gardener - become an alpine lover. Low maintenance, long flowering seasons and they fill agarden in no time without ever becoming a nuisance If you garden - what planitng do you favour ?

@Captain it was just a wild storm I guess it came out of nowhere
Captain · 61-69, M
@AngelUnforgiven So are yuou back to super hot and sunny again now ? We're set for this garbage for a day or two yet.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
@Captain have you ever heard of a Peacock flower? I want one so bad it would look lovely in your garden , they are tropical and so beautiful this is what they look like at full bloom
Captain · 61-69, M
@AngelUnforgiven Nope - its a tropical plant - I've just looked it up as you ask.

Peacock Flower 5 Seeds, Barbados Pride (Caesalpinia Pulcherrima) Fast Grower, Hardy to - 8 deg C
£2.29.

We dont have a green house - it would need to be heated. Minimum temperature 8 degrees - so plant out probably as late as end of June or bring on doors at night - or hells bells its looks lovely, grow it as a house plant. Interesting, thanks for the heads up.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
@Captain oh ok I have a small greenhouse in the backyard but I don't go back there anymore there was a snake actually there's been a few since but I just cant bring myself to go back there anymore. I have this deathly fear of snakes.
Captain · 61-69, M
@AngelUnforgiven Well the worse thing you can do is corner a snake. I guess the moral of the story is dont have Greenhouses and leave them open in Texas - do you get rattlers all over Texas or just in the desert bits ?
