I feel so blessed this morning I am praying for everyone else 🙏 the power is out but I don't even care!

We had 60mph winds overnight and I don't have any damage but my trashcan was up the street and one of my roses bloomed for the 1st time today I guess it must have loved the rain. I put a yellow solar light bulb on the yellow rose, a red one one on the red roses and a pink one on the pink roses and the bulbs didn't even break I just knew that I would lose some plants at least. My swing overturned but wasn't damaged and it's tied down.

Yesterday I had some overturned plants I went out there and picked them up and this morning had to do it all over again . But none of them were damaged.

This was yesterday

This is this morning

I once had a rose like that too. We were under the gun of hurricane Michael headed directly for us pretty much in the Big Bend area sustained winds on the outskirts at the last minute it turned thank goodness a direct hit with a obliterated us but we caught a good edge of it with gusting winds up to 115 not only not a single shingle with removed from my house while neighbors had various damage a new single beautiful piece Rose bloomed in my front flower box right in front of my door. I called it my hurricane Rose

Where are you Angel - its windy here in Swindon but nothing like that bad. My garden still stands - but I dont use pots. My mighty trees and fearless alpines will see this through. Im remebering the good times ealier this year.. They will return

@AngelUnforgiven Nope - its a tropical plant - I've just looked it up as you ask.

Peacock Flower 5 Seeds, Barbados Pride (Caesalpinia Pulcherrima) Fast Grower, Hardy to - 8 deg C
£2.29.

We dont have a green house - it would need to be heated. Minimum temperature 8 degrees - so plant out probably as late as end of June or bring on doors at night - or hells bells its looks lovely, grow it as a house plant. Interesting, thanks for the heads up.

@Captain oh ok I have a small greenhouse in the backyard but I don't go back there anymore there was a snake actually there's been a few since but I just cant bring myself to go back there anymore. I have this deathly fear of snakes.
Captain · 61-69, M
@AngelUnforgiven Well the worse thing you can do is corner a snake. I guess the moral of the story is dont have Greenhouses and leave them open in Texas - do you get rattlers all over Texas or just in the desert bits ?

On Sunday we had the most rain in Denver in one day since 1950. Fortunately, no hail. My flowers, which are just coming up, look great!
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
