I am not quite sure how to post this comment, but for anyone reading this, here's some solid evacuation advice. Have a "go bag " prepared and in a convenient location that you can grab at a moment's notice. They go by various names like go bag, 72 hour bag, bug out bag, etc. You can Google all these for more information. The idea is to have all the necessary items all bagged up to grab when the emergency presents itself.
@powernap Not everyone has the luxury, or the means, to skip town when an emergency arises.

@NativePortlander1970 that's true, but this can come in handy if someone has to go to something like a red cross shelter or something similar.

Do u have a shelter close by. We got one in the basement of the house

@smileylovesgaming Kinda? It's my apartments stairwell. It's in the center of the building and encased in cement blocks

Living in Tornado alley is like living in a war zone...you have to scramble up and get to shelter at a moment's notice.

You must be out in Western part of the US.

@NIC0LE We had the sirens go off here in north central iowa where I currently live go off a few times this year, no twisters near me though, the closest I think was about 25 miles away that barely touched down.

@NativePortlander1970 There's been circulation hovering but nothing that's dropped. Apparently we're gearing up for round 2 here in a bit (work should have let us stay home)...😑
@NIC0LE Hurricane Helene should be a warning to all employers that employees should be allowed to stay home with family during severe storms.
