Sitting here topless in front of the air conditioner...

wondering how I am going to survive next week, when it will get HOTTER. My air conditioner and ALL my fans are running trying to spread out the cool air a little bit. My cat had a heat stroke yesterday. (He's okay now, thank you). It's 85F in here with the air conditioner running full blast day and night and 85F is the OUTSIDE temperature right now!!!! My bedroom where the cat is sleeping is about 90F.

I think it's time to get your air conditioner checked out.

@Nitedoc It's a portable. That's all they will allow in my apartment building, because window air conditioners spoil the look of the building. The air duct hose attached to it bleeds heat into the room, and the panel set into my sliding door bleeds heat into the room.

@4meAndyou Seal up the leaks and isolate it to one room, cooling too much space will never work. Portables really suck.
Styrofoam panel placed over the door panel might help heat transfer, or try hanging a blanket over the panel to add some insulation.

@4meAndyou Those little portables just don't cool as well as bigger units. At least it helps keep you cool.

@Nitedoc Window mounted, whole house, or wall inserted AC's are usually pretty efficient. We are only allowed one AC, a portable, and limited to 5000 BTU.
