I miss when videogames were purely just a videogame

Now they're always trying to sell me something extra inside the game

To me, they were just forms of fun and entertainment then. To me, they are the same even today.😇

@caPnAhab Cool!😇👍
Halo and Crysis took evolution of video-games to a whole new level.😇
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@SoLeRiMix That's the way they are to me, as well. A form of entertainment and escapism. Also, playing video games can be ideal for honing one's hand/eye coordination. And sometimes, playing video games can be a meditative experience as well.

@Sidewinder Absolutely right!😇👍
Now it's all about live services and micro transactions. Companies like EA are trying everything to push these treads and make single player or story driven games less relevant so they can make more money throughout the lifecycle of a game.

Just compare the original Battlefront 2 to the new one from a few years ago to see what I mean.

@NeighFlowers which is really too bad because the story/campaign aspect of any game has always been my favorite part.
yeah and a lot of the communities are awful people lol like really toxic but some good ones in there
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@lovelywarpedlemon yeah, I understand

I've left it no secret that I'm a huge fan of the Halo videogames but that community can so VILE sometimes.

I just enjoy the games and don't interact with the community very much.

God, those were the days.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@LordShadowfire couldn't agree more. I probably just caught the tail end of it

Thank Furryface for finding this .

@caPnAhab @Lilnonames We are certainly being pushed that way, for the business' interest, not ours; but how much it is a "spy" depends very much on how we use it.

Or rather, how you use it. I do not have, nor want, a so-called "Smart"-'phone and I limit my Internet use to avoid as much as possible anything possibly significant to the real "spies" - the major retailers and advertising-agencies. Use a so-called "smart"-speaker, Facebook and all on-line shopping and finance; and you can kiss good-bye to your personal privacy and security!

It's not the telephone or computer that counts, really, but how you use it, that matters.

The question though was about video games. They are only entertainment, but they are commercial products. I have never played them and will not; but it hardly surprises me that they are becoming used for advertising.
