Are men better drivers than women?

insurance companies clearly state that women have less accidents
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@SisterShadow That's only because there are less of them on the road. Just like motorcycle accidents have low numbers because there are less motorcycles on the road compared to cars.
chrisCA · M
@SisterShadow Less driving offenses overall.
Sharon · F
@SisterShadow No, they tend to have more collisions but do less damage. That could be because women tend to do more low speed driving in built up areas.

A lot of women actually turn into good drivers...
So, if you're good driver, watch out for turning women.

I'm actually surprised at the suggestion of this question. Especially coming from a woman. I don't think gender makes any difference at all. I think that all depends on a person's mood and driving skills. I would think age had more to do with driving skills than anything. I've seen teenagers that drive like they're crazy. I'm not saying all, but I've seen quite a few racing through the streets and driving and texting. And then you have some people that are just bad drivers no matter what their age.

I'm not sure but most tailgaters I see are men. And In a book I once read, 'Women After All', written by a doctor, he said women are better drivers. He said women are better at communicating, that they even are the better gender....Wow. Reading that, it is still hard for me to believe b/c I always have felt small and inept... but it was eye opening.

Look at insurance statistics, it will give you the answer you are looking for.

Statistically, no they are not

@Sojournersoul My daughter drives my Mack Vision with its 15 speed Road Ranger gearbox...

@walabby the meme was a joke. Most woman are good drivers. Good for her.

Didn’t know Richard Gere was here.

"According to the NSC’s Injury Facts report, the most recent data from 2021 shows that although there are fewer teen drivers on the road than there are senior drivers, they account for more crashes.

Drivers aged 16-19 account for 3.6% of licensed drivers in the U.S. but are responsible for 9.3% of crashes. Meanwhile, drivers aged 65-74 comprise 13.1% of licensed drivers and are responsible for 7.1% of crashes. Drivers 75 and up make up 8% of all drivers on the road and are responsible for 3.4% of crashes. That means older drivers older than 70 are not as dangerous as young drivers.

Only 3.6% of drivers, spanning only four years as an age group, cause a little less than 10% of all accidents. The total for all ages from 65 up is just over 10%, an age group spanning several decades and including far more people.

In other words, teens cause a lot more accidents than seniors. And teen males cause even more accidents than females; the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports a fatal crash rate three times higher for male teen drivers than females."

I've seen far more aggressive male drivers than women.
ReneeT · 61-69, M
I would have to say no to that. Although one of my sisters tends to drive a little too close to people in front of her
lol this stock image as she contemplates how much worse she is as a driver

@Kiesel Lol !
Not based upon insurance rates. Women tend to be less reckless, they take fewer chances on the road.
