Is this a real police car?

I was stopped at a traffic light in Bartlett Tennessee and this car pulled up next to me. Is this a real police car, or maybe an old junk car that someone bought, just to have an actual cop car? If so, wonder why half the letters are faded or missing? It was just very curious to me.

@meJess 😆 funny enough police cars in the early eighties where nicknamed jam sarnies because of there colour
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
It looks like a decommissioned police car.
Highskirt · 56-60, M
Looks like an ex police car some one has bought hence no roof lights
Mardrae · F
@Highskirt makes sense. Must be his thing, because I can’t imagine any other reason he would want it. Maybe he just really wants to be a policeman and for whatever reason he can’t, so he bought it at an auction to fulfill his dream.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Mardrae they buy them at auctions for nothing and sometimes pieces of shit buy them to harass people pretending to be police
SW-User
Probably an auctioned off one

if this is former police stock you would of thought you would have had it re sprayed before letting be used on a public road [mardrae]

I half expect to see mad max behind the wheel.

an old/decommissioned car that someone bought

can find them dirt cheap at auctions/car shows (usually in poor shape with a lot of miles though)
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
Should have called the cops. I highly doubt that's a police car. If it is, they're violating a mountain of policies.

It looks like a cop car from InFamous lol.
Confined · 56-60, M
Back in the day they were black and white. Dunno like some one else said maybe training vehicle.
eyeno · M
Probably not...., then again it could have been a training vehicle for the new recruits.
Mardrae · F
@eyeno if it is, that would be embarrassing to be seen in. The guy driving looked very young.

@SW-User my thoughts exactly

I doubt it's real
Ex cop car. You can find them on line. Usually high mileage but some are decent deals..usually the interior is pretty beat up. Spilled coffee and donut sprinkles..

@Majorlatency years ago, the caprices made good donor cars, as they were equipped with LT1's
@wildbill83 That would have been a nice find. Great motor indeed!

budget cuts
Looks like it used to be a real police car. When the cars are retired, they're sold without the police lights on them. People usually paint over the letters.
CestManan · 46-50, F
For some reason the wannabe gangsters drive around and what looks like a police car. My nephew who thinks he is OG straight out of the suburbs used to do that crap.
heavyone2 · 61-69, M
Looks like an old police junker but it may be an old back-up for small, poorer departments.....hard to tell nowadays.
Perhaps that Dept. Experienced
“De-funding” and had to improvise but stay on the road!
Looks like one that has been sold off but they couldn't get all the livery off of it!
Elessar · 26-30, M
Nope, it's clearly a POLICF one
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Could have been one a long time ago
Zaphod42 · 51-55, M
Looks like a police auction car to me
