not me - don't have the tools or place to work - but I admire people that can do that kind of work.

I've done more wrenching on small engines - It's kind of fun

Like working on updraft carburetors on lawnmower and snow throwers
Pretzel · 70-79, M
@HumanEarth I took one off the side of the road that wouldn't even pull and wheel was locked - a few hours and we were back in business.

About 25 year ago we had a huge cargo van with full floater axle. We're driving along and look out the mirror and you see your tire and axle two or three extended out.

We did an axle rebuild on the side of road. With the help of stranger that stop to help us and ran us to the parts store for parts.

You don't see people doing that today

I'm not mechanical at all. One of my work friends is the scary one. In her down time she has been restoring an old Holden from the 70's.
HumanEarth · F
Ooooo, I would love to get my hands on one of them. There not seen here in USA
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
I have never done my brakes myself. My brother and sister were mechanics. I took to the building trades and military and wildlife as well as livestock management, and cross dressing-Oops!
HumanEarth · F
Livestock management I could've used help in that area years ago.

I just faked it, till I learned on my own
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@HumanEarth I grew up being a farm hand working with old farmers. Then I got married and started my own dabbling and learned on the way like you had too. In the marriage my daughter was born a horse enthusiast and is finishing her four-year degree in animal science/health/equestrian breeding with pans for large animal/equestrian Veterinarian doctor's degree, so I have a free teacher/aid in my daughter too.
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
Not at all. Just do one side at a time.
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
@HumanEarth was a chevy colorado and used my hands. Lol
HumanEarth · F
The hands might have been the best choice for the DYI'ers. They make a special tool for that cable, but if you don't do drum brakes all the time. Its a waste of money
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
@HumanEarth It is and took me a few tries to reinstall but got it.
HootyTheNightOwl · 41-45
That's false advertising... the Dodge Caravan is NOT a caravan at all... 🤨🤨🤨
HumanEarth · F
Well the bigger "Caravans" do have electric drum brakes
HootyTheNightOwl · 41-45
@HumanEarth The Dodge's or the actual caravans??? I know some caravans have breaking systems fitted and they generally have to be plugged into the car when under tow.
HumanEarth · F
Lets just use the term "The travel trailer" for the caravan and Dodge for small passenger van.

The larger trailers get electric drum brakes is what I mean.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Ye-ye-ye-yes.
HumanEarth · F
Bring it over, I can have them done for you in a day or less if I can find all the parts

Dont matter on the year or vehicle
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
HumanEarth · F
I can even do farm tractor and semi truck brakes
