I have never done my brakes myself. My brother and sister were mechanics. I took to the building trades and military and wildlife as well as livestock management, and cross dressing-Oops!

@HumanEarth I grew up being a farm hand working with old farmers. Then I got married and started my own dabbling and learned on the way like you had too. In the marriage my daughter was born a horse enthusiast and is finishing her four-year degree in animal science/health/equestrian breeding with pans for large animal/equestrian Veterinarian doctor's degree, so I have a free teacher/aid in my daughter too.
