Is Mitsubishi a pretty good car?

I need to find a new car but Toyota and Chevrolet seem out of my price range. My car was totaled and trying to now replace it. I see a nice hatchback Mitsubishi online but don't know much about them. It does have three owners however the mileage is just 34k ...

I'd recommend looking at some car review sites such as edmunds.com , Kelly Blue Book (kbb.com), or even Consumer Reports (https://www.consumerreports.org), they charge for Consumer Reports, but you can go to your public library and they usually have subscriptions to their magazine that reviews vehicles.

Just make sure you get background info on the vehicle you are looking into by getting a report from Carfax (carfax.com) or Autocheck (autocheck.com). You don't want to get stuck with a lemon or a vehicle that has an accident history. If you are looking at a vehicle from a dealer ask them for a carfax, many of them will provide it.

If possible, bring a used vehicle to a trusted mechanic and ask them to check it out for you. As you know cars cost a lot of money, you want to get the best vehicle for your needs that you can afford.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

I was gonna get a Mitsubishi but instead got a Toyota in 2017 been reliable and amazing to this day. If you are looking for reliability Toyota, Honda and Subaru are good options.

Yup, I had a 2011 galant that I got almost new and it had no major problems in the 6 years I drove it. I gave it to my parents when I got a new truck after about 6 or 7 years, they used it for a while, no problems. I even drove it again for 6 months after I sold my truck. Great car.

Toyota and Honda would be my go-to car brands, but Mitsubishi isn’t bad. Avoid American domestics made after 1974 like the plague…they still haven’t recovered from all the mistakes and shortcuts they started taking after the 1973 oil embargo.
Don’t buy German either…they’re fantastic when they’re working right, but once they start to go wrong it’s a never ending series of costly repairs.

@Zaphod42 So a Mitsubishi might be a good option? It's within my price range, and besides it having three owners, the mileage is great.

@Coralmist I’d have a mechanic look at it first just to be sure, and Google for any specific issues for the year and model. But if it checks out, go for it.

I haven't f***** with mitsubishi since the days of the eclipse. Now, though juice to be good cars and we had one that was tripped out for a racing. But the only draw back was the transmission is plastic

My mom has one.. it's pretty weak as far as motor power goes but i guess it's got decent fuel milage usage 😅

Mitsubishi ain't bad at all.
The Eclipse for example is an amazing car.

For years I was comforted by the idea that "there's always the Ford Crown Victoria", but that doesn't exist anymore...
Nissan is good. Get it checked out by a mechanic if possible. Check the blue book value to buy it in the right range for the mileage. Do a Carfacts report and see that the odometer reading is correct.
Mazda CX-3 and CX-5 are nice - usually at a discount to typical Honda /Toyota prices for comparable vehicles

THREE owners and 34k miles? Doesn't add up to me.

This would suit you

Three previous owners at only 34K? I'd be too suspicious of it being a lemon.
