Planning things out ahead of time. I would look locations/routes up on maps before actually driving. Unfortunately, it's a lot of forcing yourself to do it even if you hate it. I still hate it, but I have to do it to get to work.

i didnt start driving till i was 19 probably. i felt embarassed telling people i didnt have a license and guilty when coworkers offered to drive me home 😭 so my friend taught me. driving itself wasn't necessarily hard to learn but it was easy to feel anxious on the road with other people

@Frostcloud I relate so much. Did you do anything specifically to help you with the anxiety? How did you overcome it?

@SWUser193 what nadie said, planning routes. i'd look at maps before i would go. if i could, sometimes id do a "practice drive" to a location with a friend in the car so i could physically see where i need to go later and see what the parking situation is

Like everything just keep doing it and don't give up...go for drives at quieter times till you are comfortable
I never wanted to drive ...I was a late start ...I only started driving in my 30's .....still hate driving ..I drive out of necessity not for pleasure

I'm still learning. As for neurodivergence... Well, I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised

I didn't get a licence until age 27 but more due to lack of necessity than my neuro spicy mental illness.

What is the problem for you? Do sounds or light conditions distract you too much?
