My sister has had one for about a couple of years. No problems so far.

Nope, my feet and a good pair of running shoes are my vehicle. You might say they're my SOLE mode of transportation.

Big diesel truck. Runs on French fries and diesel fossils. No issues

2010 Prius. I don't have that many miles on it because I just use it around town, but my son put up around 200k on both of his prior to Priuses -- he's on his third. The only problem I have had was it dying on the freeway. Well, actually, I could have limped off at around 30 mph learned later. It was a microchip enabling higher speeds that had been recalled and was replaced at no cost under warranty although the car was 12 years old at the time. Took two months because of alleged supply chain issues, but I think that was more a dealer problem than Toyota's.

Nope I think hybrid or electric vehicles are worthless.
Cabernetfranc80-89, M
@Stargazer89 Yet for the big jobs we use diesel/electric engines on trucks, locomotives, ships, and tractors. These are all hybrids.
spice1M
@Cabernetfranc there's a reason for it, these are all work vehicles but for personal use they would not perform well.
Cabernetfranc80-89, M
@spice1 This discussion got me interested in how countries outside the United States are doing with conversion to electric cars, and I found that 80% of cars in Norway are electric and the sale of internal combustion engines will be halted in 2025. Seems to be working well for them, but I wonder how well the move to all electric will work in the United States with our unreliable power grid.

I've had one. I put 350k miles on it then gave it to a family member who put another 100k on it before it was stolen.

I had a Camry hybrid and it was a good car. It wasn't my favorite Camry though.

Yep, half the time it works, the over half I鈥檓 pushing the damn thing.

@Thevy29 Yup! The joys of owning one! Muscular exercise!

Battery replacement?
No, i love nature and the free market. Id never own a vehicle made by child slave labor!! That is more harmful to the environment then the ice.
ShaneMckay41-45, M
@checkoutanytime Uses way too much coal at the powerplant to charge all these polluting EVs, too!
ShaneMckay41-45, M
No. Uses too much coal from the power plant to charge an EV.
ShaneMckay41-45, M
@dancingtongue Oops, sorry! I didn't understand it was a hybrid. My mistake.
@ShaneMckay that's still true even with hybrids. Think of all the pollution for their batteries
ShaneMckay41-45, M
@Stargazer89 And shipping the batteries from China! Ships use the dirtiest fuel because it's the cheapest, and at 10 gallons PER FOOT of travel, I wouldn't call these EVs environmentally friendly at all!!!

I had one, loved it.
Someone rear ended me....totaling my car

@JosiahForSure tell me about it, it happened at the height of the supply chain issue with cars...and I couldn't get the same car. It was a Honda Accord and I was averaging 800 miles to the tank. I settled on a non hybrid civic, which is fine...but not like my Accord hybrid.
Sort of, in the sense that it sometimes works, sometimes it doesn鈥檛. Hybrid
