Why do people ask to see a pic?

So I didn't have my picture as my profile. Now I do because I'm tired of people asking to see a pic of me and quit talking to me. How RUDE! If u think I'm ugly just say so. If you want fake you are talking to the wrong person. I tell it like it is. You also see what you get. To my true friends on here this is not towards you.

I think after a certain period of time a photo is appropriate (for friendship or other.) Most friends should at least know what you look like. However, anyone asking for photos with the first or second statement is simply looking for jerk off material. My current profile pic is good enough for a visual and how it goes from there is subjective.

@ravenwind43: I am not. I am merely stating my opinion. I find it is mostly a younger crowd who demands photos. People of my age usually do not ask. I think it is because we are more polite and we are not hung up on appearances. That is all.

Many people are curious and want to see what the person they engage with looks like. I have been asked for my photos so many times during my time on the internet. Very rare is the person who has it. I can think of 2 from EP. And a couple here who have access to it on another site. And it is safe with them. I want people to like me for my words, not for my lovely appearance. That is my way. No distractions.

@Iamnolongerhere: I agree with you. People want everything now and fast. They are selfish. I have had on-line friends for more than 5 years who have never asked to see my photo. And many strangers who ask for it without a thought. I always told them forget it. I take time to get to know people. If they cannot invest time, they can hit the road. I have standards. Good for you!

@PoetryNEmotion: And what if you sent them a photo and then they rejected your friendship? Is it based on your appearance? That would be stupid for them and show you their worth as a friend. I say stop asking people for photos. And don't ask for naked ones either. And if you do share naked photos with someone, make sure they will not use them later to cause you anguish and despair.

When they ask for pics of you, that's usually a good sign that they have bad intentions or just want to know if you are good-looking or not and aren't interested in anything else.

That's why I post on the "about me" that I'm not here to exchange photos. Some people ignore that, but it's there. This is an anonymous site, there's always Facebook. I may feel comfortable enough to show friends photos eventually, but I'm not here to date anyone, so that shouldn't really matter.

it's a good start to see what the truth is.

i've asked a few times when i had a huge question in my mind... like "who is this person really?"

quite a few times i found out it was a ripped image from elsewhere.

once, it was a picture of my friends sister... i alerted them about it, they eventually took care of the matter w/the police.

I ignore those people. I do what I want and the people that like me will accept what I have to give. I suggest you do only what you feel comfortable doing and nothing less.
