You ever get the feeling that the Southern United States exists on another ethereal plane?

GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
I get the feeling Lincoln should have let the South go.

I have been saying for years that the South should be able to peacefully secede, and that Americans in general could benefit if the States split off into autonomous regions with mutual defense treaties and trade agreements.

The way we are right now is like the Hapsburg Empire. That turned out so well.

We have nothing in common with each other anymore. Not by blood nor faith nor fellowship. No real national identity. Just some degenerate corporate monoculture.
@GeistInTheMachine That would make sense if everyone in the South was crazy, and were all sane elsewhere.

Sadly, it’s much more complicated. 🥺

@bijouxbroussard Yes. Before it would have been more simple, but it is what it is. I imagine people would still be able to migrate, but yes, it is more messy now. But messy is better than Civil War Episode II.

They took the people out of the confederacy, but they never took the confederacy out of the people.

Believe me your south is actually quite tame compared to ours 🥴

* iirc he was something akin to the mayor of that city too 🙈
I still have family back there. Most of them are reasonable, not crazy, they all hate Trump, and they all vote. But I guess they’re in the minority, living in liberal "pockets" that do exist down there.

Yes, I hate the southern and Appalachian blood in my veins.

Yes, absolutely. Do you mean hell or something else?
All the time.

Some of them. Mississippi being of high note. Some of the Midwest breadbasket states like Kansas straddle the line. Actually it's not unique to any region now that I think about it. Like Delaware and Idaho are also sorta like that too. And what about Maine?
