Christians: What does Satan do?

To the average person on a day to day basis?
An old joke.

Martha was addicted to buying clothes and her husband John explained their finances couldn't survive her shopping sprees.

"I know!" Martha wailed. "I just can't help myself."

John made a suggestion: When you feel yourself about to buy an unnecessary dress, say, "Get thee behind me, Satan!"

So Martha did that but when she came home with another pricey new dress, John looked at her with disappointment.

She hurried to explain."I just trying on the dress. I didn't plan to buy it. When I saw how pretty it looked in the dressing room mirror, I said, firmly, "get thee behind me, Satan."

She sobbed. "And Satan said, "It looks wonderful from back here!"

Just because you haven’t seen anything and don’t know anything doesn’t make something a myth.@MasterLee Life is just easier when you are in denial. But to each his own and I really do not care what myths you believe. Not gon argue with you

Hides himself so you won't recognize him and tells you that because other people do things that are bad they must not be bad after all because everybody is doing that.

Myths are kind of unresponsive to anything
Satan, n.

One of the Creator’s lamentable mistakes, repented in sashcloth and axes. Being instated as an archangel, Satan made himself multifariously objectionable and was finally expelled from Heaven. Half-way in his descent he paused, bent his head in thought a moment and at last went back. “There is one favor that I should like to ask,” said he.

“Name it.”

“Man, I understand, is about to be created. He will need laws.”

“What, wretch! you his appointed adversary, charged from the dawn of
eternity with hatred of his soul—you ask for the right to make his laws?”

“Pardon; what I have to ask is that he be permitted to make them
himself.”

It was so ordered.

I'm probably missing something but....
It's Satan's job to punish sinners for all eternity, yet he's the bad guy for doing that?
@saiyan96 It's not you. It really is that confusing.
The modern idea of satan is a mashup of folklore and medieval church ideas and has very little to do with the bible.
riseofthemachine · 41-45, M

I'm not Christian, but to me, he tells me to playing human dominoes with people in a long queue.
I'm not a Christian, but I've studied his role in the religion at length. It fascinates me, because it's so weird. In the Old Testament, particularly in the Book of Job, he seems to have a role similar to a district attorney, accusing humans of violating God's law, and prosecuting them. That would tend to indicate that he's on the side of good. But then, in the New Testament, much is made of him rebelling against God, which supposedly took place before the events of Genesis. So apparently, he goes around tempting people to sin against God, even while he's supposed to be acting as God's prosecutor.

@SW-User I had a neighbor girl like that. I pulled up a chair to the door and unlocked it, kept it closed but my hand on the doorknob till she came back a 3rd time and jerked it open and caught her in the act.
@SW-User And when he leaves that burning bag on your porch, don't try to stomp it out.
