Well, nearly two years after your posted that, I can assure you that although there is nothing sexual about it and it has slipped from the headlines - largely due to wars - climate change (to use the more formal and accurate name) has not gone away.

Instead it's moved into a period of transition and policy-forming, rather than lurid hyperbole and bitter arguments.

It is still a major item of news but not so much at attention-grabbing headline level. It's moved to the more analytical current-affairs slots. At least here in the UK. I can't speak for other countries so perhaps it is mentioned far less in the USA.

I've not seen or heard the phrase "Arctic Surge" but imagine that is one effect, or part of, the entire change.
Dont worry, it’s still a thing. You’ll have your dead oceans soon enough!

What's in a name? As long as you're afraid enough to fork over the cash, it doesn't matter

Climate change has led to increased extremes in weather. We are seeing hotter and more prolonged summer heat waves, colder and longer arctic waves, changes in the jet stream, increased severe weather systems...need I really go on?
carpediem · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 the same science that doesn't allow me an opinion? Pass. You're full of crap
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@carpediem opinion? Go ahead you can opinion all you want, it is just that your opinion just differs from virtually all climate scientists in then works. Go ahead, state your opinion.

@samueltyler2 No point in arguing with them, you might as well argue with flat-earthers.

Climate does not equal weather
People got offended by it, just like they do everything else.

At the moment they can't decide if they want to argue about covid-19, some war the weather, or whatever they're trying to scare people with today.
The planet Earth has been changing for billions of years,,and will keep changing nothing no one can do about it,,just another pay check for some people,,🌋
If that is what you think you wouldn't understand the nuance anyway.
@canusernamebemyusername I do understand that the planet is fucked, has been for thousands of years,,,,this is the reason,, 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧

Maybe watch better news?

Climate is not the weather.
2021 was the 6th hottest year on record, I believe they've said.

It's been plenty warm over the whole course of last year. Don't let a short memory trick you into thinking this week's weather represents larger climate patterns.
@ViciDraco I think I am a bit older than you,,in my 30 years living hear January never been this cold,,you must live in Florida,or California, but hear it colder than a well diggers ass,,
@jackrabbit10 Here in the PNW the winters have been getting progressively warmer, just as the summers have steadily been getting hotter. Climate change can't really be denied any longer. At this point the argument seems to be whether the changes are naturally occurring cycles, or the direct results of man's activity.
My own belief is that it's better to err on the side of caution since we only get one earth.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@jackrabbit10 how cold it is right now has no bearing on climate. Climate is a pattern of weather. Variations in weather happen all the time. A month of freakish cold does not mean the climate has gotten colder.

If the winters become consistently colder year over year and begin driving average seasonal temperatures for the season down, then you can talk about the climate.

Its called covid warming now as everyones locked up producing heat
