You need time
TessDun · 41-45, F
@jacklost1983 Yes it’s true 😨

Pfuzylogic · M Best Comment
I don’t forgive myself.
I go to God in prayer for forgiveness.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@Pfuzylogic Thanks
SW-User
@Pfuzylogic I too, pray to David Lee Roth. For he is my new deity.

@SW-User
Good luck with that. 😜

Knowing we all mess up, do things we feel guilty of.

I make sure that I don't repeat what I feel guilty of is where I start. I learned the lesson!!!

Be kind to yourself!! Don't go beating yourself up.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@ShadowWorker, yes it’s one weakness that I beat myself up it’s not healthy. Thank you for kind reminder
ShadowWorker · 61-69, F
@TessDun it's the devil's doing to beat yourself up. Hurting yourself ...that can cause guilt too. Blessings... psstt.. I can be hard on myself too.
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
There was one time I really felt guilty about something and I really was at fault. I took someone for granted and they walked away after a really big fight (and at a very inconvenient time for me). I almost instantly felt guilt and it lasted for many many years. Actually it never went away. One thing that helped was talking to that person later down the road. It took me a long time to say I was sorry. I still have regrets about it.
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
@TessDun Well I didn’t have a choice. This person wanted to be away from me. There really was nothing I could do which made me very helpless and even more guilty.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@DoubleRings Yes, and it’s not always easy to hope for reconciliation specially when someone’s door is already closed. I presume he/she is someone really important and close to you. It’s good you have now made peace with him/her
DoubleRings · 51-55, F
Yeah I made peace with that person but still have serious regrets that changed the trajectory of my life.
4meAndyou · F
There are a lot of ways to cope with being imperfect. One of them is to realize that life is a class room, and that it is highly unlikely you will score 100% on every single test. Just as you learned to live with less than 100% on your tests in school, you can learn to live with making a mistake in life, and feel less guilty. Just promise yourself you will learn from that mistake, and that you will never do the same thing again.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@4meAndyou Thank you. Yes couldn’t more 💚
ozgirl512 · 31-35, F
Depends on the guilt... Mostly it's imagined
TessDun · 41-45, F
@ozgirl512 Agreed on this 😨
SW-User
@ozgirl512 I like this. Solid words
SW-User
Uh, I can’t say that it’s required in that instance
TessDun · 41-45, F
@SW-User It’s true, also like some invisible dark clouds, for me it’s hard to disregard
SW-User
@TessDun If you add it all up and what you did should make you feel guilty... I don't think you should let that go.

But if what you did was the right (and healthy) choice for you... don't let that person transfer their feelings back to you. For instance, if you broke up with a person because they weren't "whole" at the time... don't feel guilty. You probably did your best.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@SW-User Yes thanks, I do think my reaction was normal specially when there’s an external trigger that caused it. It happened already I came with good intentions that was not expressed well and there were already negative thoughts and accusations that are hard to control like being gaslighted. I hope time heals all
Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
I don't know how to.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@Manfredthemanic Working on it too.A lot of really good answers here that can help 🙏
TessDun · 41-45, F
@Forgetmeknot Yes 🙏
Forgetmeknot · 41-45
@TessDun I'm serious. Felt suicidally guilty. Prayed and asked Jesus to take my guilt. I felt strong presence and the guilt was taken.

I believe there's something to every religion.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@Forgetmeknot I genuinely agree. I feel weak to rely on my own understanding at times and just space out. True about faith and working on it. It’s the act of surrender that there’s nothing much I can do no matter how I overthink and analyze
AngelKrish · 26-30, M
I have one life...i can live with guilt or focus on doing something better....i believe in karma ..and everything happens for reason so let it be...i will keep moving
Tukudo · 41-45, M
I ask nature to forgive me don't want to record in memory. Then if necessary do chaotic breathing technique to clean those unwanted guilty memories.
smiler2012 · 61-69
{@tessdun] think it is an individual thing so can do easily with no concience involved in there actions . but some me included beat ourselves up over wrongs against others
TessDun · 41-45, F
@smiler2012 Yes and I hope have peace within in time
smiler2012 · 61-69
@TessDun yes so do i
I don’t let anyone make me feel guilty.

That’s just not right.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@Teggy I hope I could feel the same
Smokey · 46-50, M

If you were a child when things went nips up, it helps to remember that you were a kid - and if you were a kid with shit/no guidance, then forgive yourself for that. Even if you still hold yourself to the standard that you really should have known since you knew deep down. I mean fuck, we're only human. It's not this big mystical thing...there's sort of not that much to us in a way.

Sometimes them's the breaks. You try to accept and move on. Not always that neat and tidy, though.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@SW-User This is one of the best answers too, making a lot of sense. Thank you. Maybe one major cause of my frustration is thinking I could not make mistake or lose control so it makes me beat myself up when someone is genuinely sad because of me. But yah I’m only human and agreed that I have to accept that it happens and try to move on
SW-User
@TessDun Thanks. Yeah it's hard to make sense of everything while it's still going on. We're not actually psychics no matter how many fears and nightmare scenarios we might anticipate.
It was affecting others around me.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@V00doo It’s true and it’s depressing 😥
Zonuss · 46-50, M
Nobody makes me feel guilty.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@Zonuss I wish I could say that too
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 31-35, F
I either know I’m guilty or I know I’m not.
Other people haven’t made me feel guilty unless I know I was.

Forgiveness comes with acknowledging what was done or not. If it calls for changes in the future, apologies or acceptance that at the time I did what I could. It takes time but forgiveness is possible.
TessDun · 41-45, F
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit Whenever I see someone cries because of me I just automatically feel guiltily even when I feel not at fault. Yes in time I hope 🙏
