Paying for their own medical care as in insurance companies will refuse to cover them? Seems extreme. I think an up charge is reasonable. Same way theres an insurance upcharge for tobacco smokers.
chocolateclitchick96 · 26-30, F
@Really In this case a higher premium for insurance. If theres a medical reason or religious reason I could see this being unfair otherwise im sorry but yeah… as an insurance company your a higher risk for me so you will have to pay more to be covered.
Really · 80-89, M
@chocolateclitchick96 Don't feel sorry - lots of people lack understanding.

'Life' is not an insurance company.

Oh but it is 😂 @Really

Yeah, just like making the obese pay, the alcoholic, the drug addicted.....then there are all those pesky old folks, you know they need all sorts of care "the rest of us don't"....make them pay too!

Hell, lets just round them all up and put them on a desert island somewhere, you know like a penal colony.

What are you going to do with all the vaccinated folks who are still getting the disease and still passing it on? Just looking for the "final solution", might be some plans for some German ovens in the archives.

On the money!Best answer!@bowman81
Elessar · 26-30, M
The current situation is having a 20% of society hold hostage the remaining 80% (percentages varying by country), causing disruptions of service for everyone, posing a several-folds higher risk of mutations and what not.

Something has to be done with these folks; pretending they don't exist hasn't done anything good so far, quite the opposite. I'd rather see my tax money spent in more valuable causes than preserving these idiots alive, to be absolutely frank.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Elessar We have a few antivaxxers as well. Still in the streets protesting while the public laugh at them. But Frankly we got public support for lockdowns and vaccines way better than America. And as a result only a couple of thousand dead, instead of 700,000. I leave you to draw your own conclusions.😷
Elessar · 26-30, M
@whowasthatmaskedman Yeah well over there it's wild. I've no idea what's their antivaxxers/pop ratio, but I would bet far higher than our ~20% here.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Elessar Our state is over 90% double vaxxed. and the country as a whole is approaching that. But that doesnt mean we dont have our share of Morons.😷
helenS · 36-40, F
Very much against it – it will open the gates of hell.
What about smokers with a heart disease? Should they pay for their medical care because it's caused by cigarettes? Should skiers pay for themselves in case of an accident?
helenS · 36-40, F
@Elessar Once the new rule is established ("You'll pay for it yourself if it's your own fault"), it will be applied to everything soon.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@helenS I'm sure we can add some clause, making it only a thing for epidemiological scenarios.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Elessar I can understand you anger. The idea of letting those idiots pay for themselves will turn against all of us though.
Really · 80-89, M
@anythingoes477 Do you mean just let the unvaccinated go untreated at high risk of death if they can't pay (and meantime let them spread the virus in public)?

I think there will always be people who put more strain on social programs than others do - sometimes unfairly, deliberately; even criminally. It's a cost that just has to be accepted if we want to make sure everyone who legitimately needs help can get it.
@Really Or............the ones "that can't pay" could separate in their minds the difference between "disease that could kill me" and "what my Lard and Savor Trump wants me to do"------and realize one is political and one is potentially life and death. Then simply get a FREE series of shots...like Trump did.....so the entire point of ICU, and out of pocket and insurance refusing to pay "maybe" is moot. Everything has a simple remedy....if people would stop trying to see if a harder one is better.

BTW--"I" don't mean anything......I simply posted a comment that is topical for comments.

Sounds like the health insurance lobby is hard at work.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@AllAboutLaffs I’m sure the difference is the cost of hospitalization between vaccinated and unvaccinated Covid cases. Not sure about this figure but have heard it’s upwards of $50K. You know insurance companies are not in the business of losing money.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
Half of medicine is dealing with people's bad choices. That's just the job.
Wiseacre · F
RIDICULOUS!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Nice idea. But even better if unvaxxed people are simply declared "Lepers" (Like smokers in many places) and forbidden entry. Thats more or less happening.😷
That's too extreme for me. But treating them like smokers makes sense. After all, it's a choice like smoking is.
The practice of charging tobacco users more is called tobacco rating. The ACA allows for insurance companies to charge smokers up to 50% more (or premiums that are 1.5 times higher) than non-smokers through a tobacco surcharge.
If you chose NOT to vaccinate you should be responsible for your own bills.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
If you are vaxxed and get sick you to should pay your own way

What's next? Stop digging graves for ppl older than 70? :|

I heard about this month's ago

That's like saying the athlete should have to pay out of pocket for their own injuries because they chose to play their sport.
