In what way is 'homosexual' a bad word? Why would 'cisgender' be bad? I've yet to hear anyone articulate why they dislike being called 'cis'.

@BlueVeins you don't understand. I'm not conservative. I'm nearly- but not quite- an ally. If trans advocates would like to advance their cause, they need to understand that there are certain consessions they need to make. One of them is that they don't get to screw about with the lexicon everyone uses without there being some resistance. Language should evolve organically and everyone gets to have a hand in in its trajectory.
If that doesn't happen, we remain where we're at: people saying one thing but thinking another for fear of getting of getting cancelled. Lip service.

The word "homosexual" isn't considered bad where I live.
DrBenway · 61-69, M
@HairbrushDiva I've never heard an American or UK news person use it in a very long time.
I don't watch Fox News, but I'd be surprised if even there the word Homosexual is used, or at least used very often.

@DrBenway I've never been to America so I wouldn't know.

The word homosexual is not considered bad. I don't know who taught you that bs
I'm "non trans", or cis, and I don't mind the term one bit. Now you've met someone who's lived in the world, and doesn't give a fuck about virtue signaling of any sort, who is fine with that term [edit: which is not a scientific term at all].
To answer your question: No

@DrBenway Now who's arguing semantics... and all because he lost so miserably. Boo hoo... so sad for you.
DrBenway · 61-69, M
@SW-User are you kidding? You've giving me everything I need. Youre profile pic is a big tell right there as well as your
cognitive dissonance (more research needs to be done into that before we put more kids on hormone blockers. Also autism too)
This is what I sometimes do on my coffee break. But for you, being an online activist is your entire existence.
With that in mind, I'll leave the last word to you if you want.

Cis is a meaningless word used as a pejorative.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@PrincessAwesome Not offended but laughing at you is enjoyable.
PrincessAwesome · 22-25, F
@MasterLee Actual footage of you laughing.

Cis was a tumblr term made up to attack straight people. It's "scientific" in the same way that a research article sponsored by Mickey D's says that a mcdouble a day cures diseases.
Homosexual is a term that is straightforward, not insulting. "Same sexual" or stretched out, "Sexually attracted to the same sex"

@DrBenway What does that have to do with the cisgender term? Is this just an ad hom?
AmericanaChick · 22-25, F
Homosexual isn't considered bad. And the only people who get offended by Cis are conservatards, but they don't count.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@AmericanaChick no one is offended by the term cis but the idiots that use it get offended when they are laughed at.
AmericanaChick · 22-25, F
@MasterLee I don't see why. Who cares what conservatards think?
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@AmericanaChick I certainly don't care about any tards.

Neither of them are considered bad
Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
I think it's because during WWII and other times in history, people used the word homosexual as a bad word to make gay people feel bad.
CIS has never been used in that way.

Luckily for me, I gave up trying to figure it out. Fuck who you want, or not. I don’t use any labels anymore, anyway.
