Why is the word "homosexual ' (a scientific word) considered bad but" cis" (also scientific) considered OK?

I've never known a non trans person to be okay with 'cis' unless they are some idealistic young kid who hasn't really lived in the world and it's constantly eager to virtue signal how woke they are.

Seeing as most natal people don't like cis, isn't that reason enough to change it?

Cis was a tumblr term made up to attack straight people. It's "scientific" in the same way that a research article sponsored by Mickey D's says that a mcdouble a day cures diseases.

Homosexual is a term that is straightforward, not insulting. "Same sexual" or stretched out, "Sexually attracted to the same sex"

@pattycakechamp you can't use homosexual in public life. 20 years ago it was different but now you only ever see it in academia.

@DrBenway I believe the appropriate term for homosexual is "fanny bandit" these days. Or at least, the cool gay dudes like it.

@pattycakechamp Where did you hear that it was made up to attack straight people?
DrBenway · 61-69, M
@AmericanaChick Well it was first popularised by a trans academic in the 70s (I think). I don't think natal people were consulted on it at all.

@DrBenway I googled it. The term actually came from a German sociologist named Volkmar Sigusch, who was cis. This is why fact-checking is your friend.

@pattycakechamp Gay people are also generally cis 🤷‍♂️

@AmericanaChick Well how about this then?

@DrBenway What does that have to do with the cisgender term? Is this just an ad hom?
