I think perpetual is a strong word. I'd say i'm not gainfully employed, I do things here and there and always have my foot in the door with work, I'm also friends with disabled people, I've been friends with the part time workers, and I've been friends with seriously unemployed people as well as people who sound like they are given small jobs by cops to stay off the streets if that makes sense (hey I wouldn't mind that so not judging) to me I'm open minded and cool with everyone and honestly it's guys that have a good job and nice apartment that I find trying to get me to splurge.

I am unemployed because I'm a stay-at-home mum. It's pretty insulting/degrading to know if someone here answered no to your question. It is my choice to take care of my girls. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. And btw I don't get handouts, even from the government.

@GunFinger I'm a stay at home mom at the moment too, but I'm looking for a job. But being a full time mom is the hardest job and most rewarding job I've ever done ❤
GunFinger · F
@SW-User I'm going to look for a job as soon as my youngest daughter goes to school. If not full-time, atleast casual or I'll work from home.
helenS · 36-40, F
I am friends with people who are perpetually unemployed.
helenS · 36-40, F
@SW-User I consider myself to be "self-employed" 😏
SW-User
@helenS I'm in between jobs...you hiring? 😬
helenS · 36-40, F
@SW-User I had hired a helping hand last year, but he quit soon because he had to start working at 8am, 5 days a week. Outrageous! Exploitation!
hunkalove · 70-79, M
I've been perpetually unemployed and if I had a choice I wouldn't go anywhere near me.
assemblingaknob · 31-35, F
@hunkalove how so
I am. He's a great friend, if not my best and closest friend.
Fluffybull · F
I used to know someone who couldn't keep a job. I'd ask her round to mine for a meal and watch a dvd as she said she couldn't afford to go out anywhere. She'd tell me I was "lucky" to live on my flat and "lucky" to have a car. I wasn't lucky, I worked hard to pay rent etc and afford a car. Moved away after a while and didn't keep in touch....👍
ButterRobot · 51-55, M
sure...why not.
My best friend and only close friend has been unemployed for years because she has a husband that makes good money
octoberthesixth · 31-35, F

@Adaydreambeliever Yes. Lend. Thank you. 🤭
TexChik · F
You mean like a house wife ? / stay at home mom? Absolutely
Sure. So long as they don't expect me to carry their load for them.
SW-User
A lot of differing answers here. I find them interesting.
I don't mind friends who aren't always working for a pay check since there is more to life than a 9 to 5 job lifestyle.
I would mind if it became a regular thing to be handing out money, which usually is a big problem in any kind of relationship. lol
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
Yes, of course I would, why wouldn't I? Our jobs or lack therefor don't define us. we are more than that ..
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
@mysoulsays yea lots of people think that way.... it's called being judgemental
mysoulsays · 36-40, M
@Adaydreambeliever Well am saying out of my own personal experience of my cousin and friend, also if I had been judgemental then I wouldn't have been friends with unemployed people
octoberthesixth · 31-35, F
@Adaydreambeliever no, this is not a reason to invalidate someone of course
LadyJ · F
Only a shallow person would dismiss having a friend who's unemployed..the job doesn't make the person
Yeah I guess I could but they would not get to mooch off me.. that’s a no no.
@NoGamesTolerated But I guess it would make a difference why they are perpetually unemployed…
meggie · F
Yes I have a friend who is looking for the perfect job that really doesn't exist. Her parents are at their wits end with her and she is getting more and more depressed. But she is a kind nice person who I have a lot of time for.

@SW-User profound
Unemployment affects us all, at least once in our working lives - and some people are just too sick to work.
GirlPower · 26-30, F
As long as they're not always hanging around expecting a handout.
mysoulsays · 36-40, M
Yes, and in fact try to help them out
Stopmakingsense · 61-69, F

That depends on if they’re users more than if they work. My husband’s mother chooses not to work & lived off my husband for many years & now his younger brother takes care of her. Money is very tight. I think it’s wrong that she watches tv 7 days a week while he works 6 days a week. My husband’s uncle also hasn’t held a job in over 15 years. He begs for money from people just about everyday. Neither of them has mental or physical impairments. They simply feel others should be taking care of them instead of them doing for themselves. That trait is extremely unattractive.
