@BlueMetalChick Although those terms aren't familiar to me, due to which part of the world I am from I'm well acquainted with the terms Romani and Gypsy. In Eastern Europe and Bulgaria where I'm from particularly we have romanies as a minority and I can't say they have it any better here discrimination wise either.

@BlueMetalChick Ha, no worries about that. I'm a Bulgarian Turk, I've had my bit of discrimination here too, since the Ottomans invaded Europe and held it for 5 centuries there's no love for people like me either, often I even prefer not telling them my name so they don't know my roots.

Several friends staged an intervention for me to convince me that I need to stop purposefully embracing the negative typcasts of my ethnicity out of a bitter desire to give everyone what they seem to want. Had this happened even six months ago, I wouldn't have been bothered, and probably would have enjoyed the experience out of a perverted sense of accomplishment.

@BlueMetalChick I know a few people who resorted to this kind of response when they were on the receiving end of racism. The self fulfilling prophecy. I do get it, they marginalise you, further pushing you towards accepting the role they assigned to you, but I find it unfortunate that sometimes this is the only sense of belonging or acceptance people find.

All what we see, hear or feel, we perceive through the prism of our own experiences and expectations, I just wish people weren't so dismissive.

The amount of times I've had people trying to convince me that I'm some terrorist sympathiser, and extremist on here and other sites is countless. Even if you deny it, they've already made up their minds. People like this unknowingly contribute a lot to the crime they claim to be against.

@Jm31xxx Because they were conversing with me totally fine until I said something about my race, at which point they repeatedly insulted me. When I explained that, contrary to my stereotypes, I contribute to society, I have a job, I go to school, I own a house, so on and so forth, they told me that I shouldn't be allowed to do any of those things because people of my race are third class citizens, and then blocked me.

I've long be a doubter, and it's gotten worse over the years... people that have strong opinions about things and blind to the facts in part because they choose to put blinders on, and blind themselves from the facts.
