Do u let "strangers" use your cell phone in an emergency ?

This morning I allowed a young lady to use my cell phone. This was while I was at Wal Mart. I have seen her around time many times before. I think she has a crush on me. 🙂 She asked me to use my phone so she can call her mother. I gave her that look you know. 🙄 But once she let me know who she was gonna talk to, I let her use it. It was no problem. But I rarely do this. I normally do not let anyone use my phone at all. Was I right to do her a favor. Do you let strangers use your phone in an emergency, or not.
I don’t have a cell phone, and pay phones are no longer an option, so yes, I have asked total strangers if they could call someone for me. Never been turned down.

Usually kids cuz they're usually bawling so I know it's genuine.I used to work in the Children's dept and heck of a lot of shitty parents who dump the kids there and go off shopping

@Longpatrol Are you straight bawlin. 🙂

Nope, nope, nope....it’s a quick way to get it stolen. A student did it one morning, someone claimed he was waiting on his ride to work and they hadn’t showed up and he wanted to call and ask them why....the student handed him her cell phone and he sprinted across the street and left the area with it. She came back inside the building looking distraught and told me. I told her to call the police on the lounge phone but she was embarrassed for having fallen victim to a stranger. I convinced her that it was a crime that should be reported. So she did and she told me that the officer was very angry but I think they never found the guy that did it.

I might dial the number and put it on speaker for them to make the call, but I would never relinquish control of my phone to a stranger.

once, an older lady was waiting for her son to pick her up and needed to know where was. you have to read the situation.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@monte3 Yes, you must make sure you read the situation.
And is not trying to buy weed. 😂
monte3 · 70-79, M
@Zonuss yeah she was about 80 so i was willing to take a chance..
chrisCA · M
No. If it is an emergency, you can make the call for them.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@chrisCA I started to make the call for her. But I was like its harmless.
She was calling her mom.
chrisCA · M
@Zonuss It would depend on the situation. It could also be a ruse to steal your phone.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@chrisCA Oh ain't nobody gonna steal my ish. 🙂

Kids yes. Not adults.

@samueltyler2 i live in NYC. People steal phones all the time. A child is almost always in greater need of help and less likely to have their own phone so it is more worth the risk than an adult who may very well be running a scam.

@summersong Interesting point. I had not thought of that. I guess I am too trusting, although i have lived in the greater NYC area most of my life!

Define "emergency"?
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Harriet03 If someone needs a ride from a relative. Or if someone has to tell someone about a tragic event. Or whatever.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@Zonuss Of course.
