Clue: Nobody reading this post will share the thing they have in common, and it should be possible to work out what they have in common simply by looking at their faces.
@SteelHands With 7.8 billion in the world, I beter there are thousands of people who could pass themselves off as these four.
I guess my fear comes from nature being honed over billions of years. All the checks and measures are there. When we start producing "natural" results in artificial ways, it's difficult to know all the places it might lead. A bit like genetically modified food.
We might all end up looking like cave people to each other. What happens when there's no pretty or unattractive people left and everybody just looks same.
@jomsim Okay! They are all part of a 4 part composite portrait style photograph! It's something they have in common and no one else on this site is part of that composite! Yay! I win!
@Jackaloftheazuresand Because I made these ones myself, 15 minutes ago. I was curious whether anyone else would be able to tell, given that they look real to me.
@Jackaloftheazuresand That's the whole reason for the question. It was a bit like a Turing Test. I was curious to know if you lot could spot something about them, that I myself could not. I'm kind of glad nobody did because the only thing I stood to learn was that I'm unobservant.
all have computer generated gorgeously proportioned faces so they are all perfect examples of what conventionally attractive people supposedly look like.
@Platoscave Now I look at them, there is a lot of symmetry going on there. You're the onlt person who noticed it. And yes, there definitely seems to be the "right level" for symmetry and going too far either way can be unattractive.
@Miram They don't do either. And the answers out now. None of them exist. They were created by a neural net in order to form an image that humans recognise as human.
Wow. I was surprised I was right actually. The biggest clue I had to go on was the guy top/right. There's something wrong with his mouth that I can't quite put my finger on. I'm not sure if it's the shape of it or maybe the lip colour not quite sitting right with his skin tone. @jomsim
@ThePerfectUsername I think you're right. His mouth doesn't really fit on that face. A few of the ones I generated looked odd and I rejected them, but I didn't notice his mouth until you just said it.
The guy bottom left... to me his ears look like they belong to someone else. It's a hell of a lot harder to tell with the women though but I'm putting that down to us being so familiar with photoshopped models being everywhere you look nowadays. I think we've kinda subliminally become used to women not quite looking real anyway. @jomsim
