My husband quit some years ago now when he got so sick with bronchitis he couldn't smoke anymore .. he's fine now thankfully. Im glad he finally quit, smoking is unhealthy stinky and expensive.. hopefully you quit already now? 🙂

I moved to vaping after smoking for 10 years.
It's good for quitting if you know you're gonna slip up sometimes but don't wanna smoke cigarettes.

lungs and smell/taste is better now.
Very true and great advice. If they're unreliable, the fallback is, of course, buy a pack of smokes.

I actually don't like cigarettes any more.@Ryannnnnn

@Mamapolo2016 Yeah me too, every once in a while i'll have half of one but they taste dreadful now. Strange how we get used to how gross they taste.
I think I spent nearly £100 on duds and cheap pens before I got a good one.
At least. My advice is: buy one with a magnetic battery cover, two batteries (buy four rechargeables & keep two on charge) and a tank large enough to last a full day.@Ryannnnnn

Don't bother. That bus could hit you tomorrow. Now have a drink and a think.

This is a true statement. I've gained 15 pounds in 87 days 😢

@Pinkstarburst That's not to bad, could be worse hun..
I smoked for forty+ years.

My advice:

1) Quit now. It will not get easier.
2) Every day you do not buy cigarettes, put the money you WOULD have spent in a jar and at the end of a month, buy yourself a treat with it.
3) Consider peripheral expenses with cigarettes - clothes with burn holes, lighters, ash trays.
4) Think about what smoking causes you to miss (going outside during a concert or a dinner).
5) Know that you smell better without changing your hygiene habits.
6) Look at your curtains and walls - there's more of that crap in your lungs!
7) Enlist your doctor's help, tell everybody you're quitting (the embarrassment factor), go to quitters' seminars (free most places - check with health and medical centers)

Keep trying. Call the quit line. If you have insurance there's a good chance you can get patches, gum, and coaching to quit smoking at no cost from them. Get support. It helps.

It is one of the hardest things you will ever do. Just take every crave as it comes and do the best you can to be strong in your commitment to quit. Accept that you may falter but stay in a forward motion.

(does that sound convincing????)

@Pinkstarburst yes i should be strong

Do it now. Not tomorrow, not next week, not finishing off this pack first. Throw them in the garbage !Done! You’re a nonsmoker. Change your mindset from “I can’t smoke “ to “ I don’t smoke “.

Recognize the benefits of quitting, and do so gradually, a cigarette or so less a day until you quit. Or actually commit yourself to go cold turkey.

Yes. Buy some nicotine mini lozenges. That worked for me and I smoked two packs a day.

...Of course, then you have to kick the mini lozenge habit. 😊

@RemovedUsername342541 I wish it were that simple with addictive substances.
Theseus · 46-50, M
@Doomflower Spot on! I love it when people who've never struggled with addiction tell you to "just stop."
Visit a smoker dying of lung cancer.
