There's me, lol...beautiful countryside, history, beautiful pubs and if you go to the south east, great weather.....NO hurricanes, no monsoons, no forest fires and the chances of getting shot...minimal....and hot women...
Synyster · 51-55, M
@Platinum I agree. I need to let her know we are over here. She'd like this place.

Because of the history and beautiful countryside.

Witness protection
BrattyMel · 31-35, F
I didn’t mean to, it was an accident, ma’am. @Harriet03
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@BrattyMel Hmmmm
BrattyMel · 31-35, F
How can I make it up, Ma’am?@Harriet03
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
Not for the weather. The biggest reason would probably be for safety. On the other hand, England seems to be becoming more dangerous. So maybe the devil you know is better than the one you don't.
Nimbus · M
@Wraithorn It's hell!
Plus Brexit is a mess.
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
@Nimbus I see that all up and over the news. You peeps need to get that sorted so you can move past it and pay attention to other stuff which is busy creeping up on you in the meantime.
Nimbus · M
@Wraithorn I agree but I just cannot see Brexit being completed anytime soon.
Riverman · 56-60, M
Because no one else will take me.
Novaturient81 · 41-45, F
The accent alone would be enough.
Nimbus · M
xixgun · M
I was suddenly declared King of England through a "King Ralph" type scenario.
xixgun · M
@Nimbus Harry and William have just dropped their heirs (hairs in William's case)
Nimbus · M
@xixgun Nice one.

Whenever I see those two on TV I think of a comedy duo :)
xixgun · M
@Nimbus They do seem rather Smothers Brothers-esque

Nimbus · M
Patience! :)
Platinum · M
@Nimbus we will remember the worst PM ever...but I'll try
4meAndyou · F
My grandfather and great Aunt inherited the family farm there, in Gloucestershire.

Because, legally, they would have had to move to England to inherit, they chose to pass the inheritance to an English relative who had pursued them to the States hoping they would sign everything over to him, and they did.

Had they had not decided to remain in America, my father and his brother might have inherited it and then my cousins, my brother and myself. That would have been the only reason I would move to England.
Nimbus · M
@4meAndyou Interesting.

Would you have preferred the outcome not to be that way?
4meAndyou · F
@Nimbus I don't know for sure. The farm could not be sold, as it was one of those protected historical sites. I don't think you can ever know what it would be like living in another country until you try it...but it is likely I would have been unhappy. Too much upkeep, not enough American stuff all around and so on. Culture shock, I'm sure.
shuhak · M
To be able to breathe again (too much fire and smoke here)
Nimbus · M
@shuhak Awwwww, yes it's all over the news here.

I hope you have made plans to move if needed.
shuhak · M
@Nimbus Nowhere to go. If the (Code Red) call comes, I'll just grab the pets and, if tiem, other "essential" things, and head south (if possible). I don't want to be caught in none of these canyons during a fire.
This town is much like Paradise (the town that was destroyed) - houses nestled in the forest with narrow, winding one-lane roads (although we do have a short "freeway" that goes through the center of town). You can imagine how terrified people around here are. Many folks here knew people or had relatives in Paradise.
Nimbus · M
Oh my!
That's awful :(

Make plans now just in case!

I hope you have insurance cover for it all.

To stay in a quiet place near the sea, I'm sure there are still some places like that in Scotland don't know about the UK though. And the fresh fish.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Nimbus I'd love to visit at least once. Not so much touristy places but pretty green calm & peaceful places.
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti Plenty of those.

I hope you can one day.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Nimbus I'd like to see the thatched roofs, gardens, sheep and stuff like that and the people too, everyday people not the touristy shop people so much.

caesar7 · 61-69, M
Absolutely...saw them in Toronto a few years ago. It was awesome.
Nimbus · M
@caesar7 Nice :)
I saw them too in their early days.

I have seen Van der Graaf Generator, King Crimson, Genesis in their Peter Gabriel days.
Also Zappa and Beefheart but are they Prog or a genre of their own?

Missed out on Rush and Yes, Topographic Oceans being one of my fave albums.

Have a look at 'AboutMe' on my profile with great lyrics from Fish who I consider to be the greatest Rock singer.
caesar7 · 61-69, M
You have great taste obviously. I saw Yes twice while Chris Squire was alive...he blows me away and is still my favourite bass player of all time. Saw the Moody Blues, IQ , Jethro Tull twice, David Gilmour and Roger Waters. I am not finished yet..lol You are very lucky to have seen the Gabriel-era Genesis. Was it the Lamb tour?
