I'm about to go insane... 😠

Can the neighbors not hear their f*cking dog that has been barking nonstop for the last 5 hours? Every second since I have been home, that's all I've heard. Constant barking projecting over the TV, dinner conversation, music while showering! There's no end!

Finally while I was in my bedroom grabbing some pjs.. I'd heard enough. I ran to the back door, flung it open and screamed "shut up" like some crazy woman.... forgetting I only had a small towel wrapped around me from just stepping out of the shower. 🙄 Pretty sure I was in clear sight of everyone on my street while I'm standing under my porch light bellowing at the top of my lungs. All for 30 seconds of silence as the damn thing is still barking. Ugh! 😡

Make a 24-hour recording of the dog's barking and give it to your neighbours with a print out of professional dog trainer's advice on how to stop barking.
I found this:
http://m.humanesociety.org/animals/dogs/tips/how_to_stop_barking.html

Use "I" language:
"When your dog barks I cannot sleep.
Lack of sleep makes me irritable and affects my safety as a driver and my performance at work.
I would really appreciate it if you could do something to stop your dog barking."

It likely that most of your other neighbours feel the same way, so you could consider getting them to sign a petition.

Barking can be due to boredom, loneliness, separation anxiety or too much energy from lack of exercise.
The dog should have another dog as a companion.
Should go for at least one hour-long walk every day.
Should have toys to play with and bones to chew.
Could be closed in a quiet room, like the laundry, at night.

If your approach does not work, consider using earphones with the music of your choice.

@hartfire that's perfect, thank you for your response. I'm definitely going to ask the other neighbors if they're equally irritated since this isn't the first or second time this has happened. It's becoming a daily occurrence.
:) Thank you!

@abe182 oh.. you! 😇
Quizzical · 46-50, M
Poor doggy might have been abandoned 😞
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@Quizzical lol..among other things! 😂 You might have a point here BUT they wouldn't have had it not been for that dog! 🙄
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@PerfectIllusion I think I will teach my dog to bark more just in case of a similar response...

Then again, looking at some of my neighbours I don't really fancy seeing any of them half naked 🤢
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@Quizzical that bad, huh. I can't promise they liked what they saw though. 😂

I hope you know that you are allowed to call the police and complain of a noise nuisance. Your neighbors can purchase something called a Barker Breaker, which will train their dog not to bark. Google it, print it out, put the print out in an envelope and mail it to them. I had to use them on my dogs, because one of them was an insane barker, set the other one to barking, and we lived in a townhouse condo at the time. It would have been far more cruel to get rid of our dogs.
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@4meAndyou they don't do much because we're not in city limits. County cops would be dispatched and they have bigger issues to worry about so it tends to be pointless. I get the feel that they're the type of neighbors that really don't care.
4meAndyou · F
@PerfectIllusion You can still let them know that barker breakers exist, and write a letter to the town council letting them know there is a constant noise nuisance.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
Give the Humane Society a call.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@PerfectIllusion A bit expensive, but they do have good things there. The only thing is that when you step out the door to yell about the dog the neighbors might be so impressed with you in your new things they will keep the dog barking, just to see more of you.
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@sunsporter1649 haha..I won't make a habit in doing that, that's for sure!
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@PerfectIllusion Oh well, I am disappointed, I was thinking of moving....
Maybe he's alone at home! They might have locked him up.. 🤔
@PerfectIllusion Oh! Poor you.... 🤗🤗 Keeping my fingers crossed for you, dear. Good night, sleep tight... 😊
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@Vivaci thanks so much! I'll need it! 🤗 Good night
@PerfectIllusion 😊 🤞🤗 Let's hope he's dead tired from all that barking. Lmao! Sweet dreams! 💕
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@jjoe01 😠 lol
Ynotisay · M
Are you sure they're home? Dogs that are stressed, and may not be well-trained, will bark when they're alone.
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@Ynotisay they're definitely homem. Idk about the dog being stressed. But it's stressing me out!
It needed food and water😐
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@Mondayschild good grief.. that's common sense when you have an animal. I hope they're smart enough to know that..lol
@PerfectIllusion me too. The poor thing was suffering
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@Mondayschild sounds like it's full of energy by the sound of its constant barking though.
SW-User
thats why i prefer cats
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@SW-User me too!
I’d hate to have a dog that barked all of the time . I don’t know how people stand it.
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@Spoiledbrat me too! It would get on my nerves before the neighbors ever noticed it!

PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@Spokeskitties75 just for that I'm coming to get your kitty! 😝
MsMontgomery · 56-60, F
Get one of those anti-bark colllars & invite him over to the fence.
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@MsMontgomery I'd like to get a shock collar and zap his ass once or twice. I'm sure that would help!
fun4us2b · M
Here's a crazy idea! Although your other neighbors will miss seeing you in your towel!

PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@fun4us2b I might have to purchase that!
fun4us2b · M
@PerfectIllusion I have a similar gizmo I put at one spot of my lawn to chase the chipmunks from drilling big holes and it worked, I'm glad it did so I didn't have to use chemicals or traps...
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@fun4us2b I've seen similar things before. Wasn't sure if they actually worked.
marsbar · F
Maybe you'll need to go tell the neighbors directly. I'd be annoyed as hell too.
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@marsbar me too! I don't even want to think about that!
marsbar · F
@PerfectIllusion Put ear plugs in your ear.
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@marsbar I'll have to sleep with XM radio blaring..lol
DanielChristensen · 46-50, M
That sucks. My neighbor was playing loud music all day
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@DanielChristensen I just hope they move.. or the dog gets hit by a car! Ok, that was super mean but maybe a little true!
DanielChristensen · 46-50, M
@PerfectIllusion lol it's understandable
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
Tminus6453 · M
Sounds like my neighbor.. little trashy mutt dogs yappin all day
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@Tminus6453 I'm literally about to lose it! 😂 maybe I've already lost it.
zhafar · 61-69, M
I had the same problem. My neighbors purchased a shock collar. Every time that asshole barked, the collar zapped him. Problem solved.
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@zhafar my neighbors act like they don't care. I'll zap his ass!
zhafar · 61-69, M
[@PehfectIllusion] Use a low powered bee-bee gun. Reach out and touch that SOB. Don't let anyone see you. You'll get into trouble. I've done it. That works, too.
PerfectIllusion · 46-50, F
@zhafar I'm afraid to do that with neighbors so close and kids wandering around.
