Have You Been To Austin, TX.?

Were you wearing a cowboy hat and went to listen to live country music? That is most people impression of that place. Unsure there is anything but country music in Austin, TX. Never been.

Used to work there back in the day. Live bands, country or rock, on sixth street were about even when I lived there. Same for Austin City Limits TV show on Saturday.

@PatKirby SRV, was a one of a kind!!! He would play until his fingers bled. The strings were so tight!

You will love this!!! It's one of my all time favorites!!! It gives me chills, even now, playing it on a high end system.

Some of the world's finest players!!!

@Oster1

Yes! Very nice. I like how he handled himself on the guitar. Especially on his version of Voodoo Child he was a master of the axe. He did it better than Hendrix!

You have never been, obviously. Austin is more Rock than Country. There are plenty of Country acts, but many other types of music are happening there. It's beautiful but ridiculously liberal as well. There are all types of restaurants and bars. 6th Street is where you will find just about any type of food, liquor, or music you are looking for.

@TexChik I had a surprisingly good slice of pizza on 6th street, and I’m a total pizza snob .

I was there august 2021. I ate at Coopers BBQ downtown . Also swam in the huge outdoor spring / pool . Pretty cool city .

Yes, several times. Never wore a hat, but did enjoy some good music and food.

It is one of the only cities in Texas that now has a homeless problem.

Sixth Street is a fabulous music scene when I was there

No. My coworker moved to Texas to live with her dad who was an American from Texas. Think that was San Marcos.

@SW-User
I liked the glass bottom boat ride there in San Marcos.

I spent two months in Texas. San Antonio, to be specific. And all but about 8 hours of that time was spent on the inside of Lackland Air Force Base.😆

I've always wanted to go to SXSW but have either not been able to afford it or able to find the time off.

Austin City Limits would be pretty sweet to catch too.
sunnudenow · 70-79, M
I've never been to Austin but I've been to Oklahouma.
ChadJNSD · 31-35, M
